Not too many animals or much for the kids to do except the Play Land before you even get to the zoo. My kids had much more fun in the play land then in the zoo. Train ride was fun but short and from what I am told the speaker system never works so he never tells you what animals... More

A great attraction for the family. They have a new exhibit for penguins which is awesome. A nice snack bar is also good. A pleasant place to enjoy the outdoors and see animals in a comfortable setting.

For a city the size of Decatur, Scovill Zoo is above par on many scales. It is laid out in a good manner, has many interesting animals and is affordable for the family. It is also a part of the AZA. It also has this amazing playground outside the grounds that is great for the kids.

Went with my parents for Mother's Day. Good variety of animals, decent reptile/insect house, and plenty of birds. The petting zoo is a nice surprise and the layout is decent. I came here as a kid so I'm nostalgic for the old layout - still apparent in some misplaced signs designating species. Good zoo for the area and very kid... More

They only provide wheelchairs for kids or really skinny people. Luckily there was a place close buy to rent one. They have a lot of, I guess it could be called decorative rock, which is kicked onto the paths by kids. It is horrible for wheelchairs. Big gaps between grass and paths makes getting wheelchairs stuck a sure thing. No... More

Outstanding facility! Playground nearby. ZOO railroad runs through the park. Adjacent to Illinois Children's Museum in Scovill Park. ( another hidden gem !). Take the kids! They will love it !

I was pleasantly surprised by this zoo. For a smaller community zoo, this place has a great variety of animals. the youngsters we took loved the peacocks and other birds wandering through the grounds. One can ride the train, pet the goats, pop up through the penguin habitat, pet a tortoise, and get a very close-up look at lots of... More

The zoo was small enough not to wear everyone out. I could let the little one walk ahead of me and visit with anumals. The petting zoo was a great addition. I'd have to say the play ground outside of the zoo was our favorite part though. I could rest while he enjoyed himself in a very clean play area.... More

We visited the zoo with our 2 year old and we're presently surprised by how nice it was. Yes, it's small, but there are still a good number of animals and the zoo itself is well maintained. My daughters favorite part were the Penguins and baby goats. In addition to the zoo itself, there is also really nice large playground... More

When I was a kid, this was Scovill Farms...it's grown up! It's a small zoo, but is awesome for kids because it is very manageable. The exhibits are well designed, and there is a good variety of animals. We particularly love the carousel and the petting zoo. It is next door to the Children's Museum, so you can make a... More
