The Illinois legislature has completely ruined horseracing in Illinois. Fairmount Park is a classic example of everything wrong with racing in Illinois...small purses, mediocre (at best) horses and horsemen, and tiny betting pools.

It was nice to walk through to some restaurants - I wouldn't be here at night. We saw a homeless person sleeping on a bench - but beautiful during the day.

We travel to Fairmount track twice a year, for Kentucky Derby Day, and in the fall, for Breeders Cup Day. Fairmount is an older track with lower paying live races, but is maintained to make it enjoyable. They have good food at reasonable prices, (not so for soft drinks, they are expensive).

Fun place with a group, they need more picnic tables. To many kids running all over screaming but we enjoy the races.

Only live racing in town which is always fun. Great hot dogs and pretzels. A good place to meet friends for a summer evening out.

This racetrack is seedy. I went there several years ago and would never go back. Dirty. Smelly. Couldn't enjoy the horsesat all.
