I went on the North Side Tour and it left a lot to be desired. First of all, our guide Fred was awful. I don't think he's been in Chicago that long. He stared at his phone most of the time, and then at the end of the tour he stood in front of the bus door with a big... More

My wife and myself borded at Sears tower. We thought it would be a great way to fill our schedule up plus a taxi. The guide was Dom and i have to be frank, why does he do tours? Unpleasant experience. We got off at the museums and visited field museum . We purposely got on a different bus and... More

We took the deal including entrance to attractions. The deal was a good one, two boat rides, the observatory, and many more. Guides on grey hound buses - we met three - were average too much commercial and personal brain washing too little information. Buses stop running at 1700 so no night view.

The tour is a good overview of Chicago. It was slow due to the traffic but still enjoyable. You can get off and back on at about 20 stops. We recommend it.

The tour guides & drivers were the only thing we liked about this tour, We got on rode around for awhile, got off for lunch, went to the stop and waited over 1 hour 15 minutes for the next tour bus. We called 3 times and were told it was 5 minutes away. Didn't get on a bus for 30... More

We had a 2 day hop on hop off pass included on the Go Chicago card. I thought it would be great for getting around all the places we wanted to see which it was but I found it very restrictive as it was a one way circuit which meant we had to sit through the first half of the... More

We had all the same bad experiences as the previous reviewers; terrible guides that just blathered rather than giving useful or accurate info, waiting on buses for 45 minutes, etc. We finally resorted to taxis to get to the various sites we wanted to see. Note to Gray Line Tours- write a script about interesting facts about Chicago and make... More

If you come into Chicago and try to get on the bus without a physical ticket from their office (located no where near a train) they will not let you on their buses at all. We had to waste half a day trying to get to their office in Palmer hotel to come to a rude old lady hidden in... More

We took the Gray Line as part of a package deal and it was terrible. Our guide very obviously knew nothing about the sights on the tour, bar none the worst sightseeing tour I've ever taken! Go with another provider.

Staying in Downtown / The Loop

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.
