Better by day, different but still really good at night (especially if the Mrs wants to do it!) Docent led tour points out many of the city's architectural highlights.

Excellent cruise with very comfortable seating and an expert in Chicago architecture. These are volunteers and accept no tips. The tour is 90 minutes. The tour guide made reference to many of the passenger's origins when describing the various buildings, a very nice personal touch.

The Chicago Architecture Foundation River Cruise is a must for any traveller. I had been awestruck by the buildings, just walking around the city centre and running along the river, but seeing Chicago's magnificent architecture by boat gave me a much more complete and intimate perspective. Our docent Craig was well-informed, personable, and clearly in love with his city. We... More

Joan led us through the Chicago river with many anticdotes and informative tidbits. I personally loved her enthusiasm and passion for the subject, I think this would make the difference from all other tours. This is the official tour by the Chicago Architecture Foundation and you can tell how legit it is because she wouldnt even except tips at the... More

My girlfriend and my mother were traveling in Chicago with me and it was a tough sell to get them to do this. They liked the idea of the river cruise but not so much the architecture and they thought it was too expensive. Afterwards, we all agree that it was by far the best thing we did in Chicago!..... I took the 90-minute river cruise and my docent was Judith. What a knowledgeable woman! She is so passionate about the topic and, therefore, interesting to listen to! I highly recommend this cruise.

We did the last tour of the day at 7:30. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the architecture of Chicago, past and present. The tour lasted 90 minutes and provided excellent views. I was able to get wonderful pictures from the boat of the skyline and architecture. I took this tour with two other people and we all agreed... More

The ideal combination of going out on a relaxing, high quality river cruise to take in lovely city scenes with the most knowledgeable people to share the city’s history and culture with you! Our docent, Mitzi, holds a treasure of information and was a delight to listen to. Frankly I can’t imagine having the ability to speak almost non-stop for... More
