This was a great way to see Chicago in a different way. Instead of riding on a bus and zooming up and down streets, we were on the river checking everything out. I thought this tour was excellent. Now, on the day we went it was cold (40 degrees) and foggy - couldn't even see the tops of some buildings,... More

The woman who did our tour knew plenty about the topic. She was funny, too. This was a great 90 minute tour!

This was my first trip to Chicago and I have to admit that I never really researched its history. The river tour is a fantastic way to see all of the contrasting styles of Architecture displayed as part of the Chicago skyline in 90 minutes. If you ever studied architecture or have in depth knowledge this field you will probably... More

This is a must do when visiting Chicago. We had the please of a local historian and architectural specialist and what a pleasure to sit and listen to her while seeing all the fantastic sites. Many great photo opportunities and builds to savour. Don't miss this and make sure you go with this tour companies and not one of the... More

The boat tour alone is a great way to see the city. The scenery is amazing, and on a sunny day there's nothing more relaxing that watching the city and its skyline from a bit of a distance and with a breeze in your your face. However, I had expected more of the volunteer guide. Although she was very knowledgeable,... More

We had picture perfect weather for our afternoon cruise in April! The cruise was very interesting. Boat was nice with full bar and nice restrooms on board. Definitely a must do in Chicago!!

I loved the tour and it was a beautiful Chicagoland day out on the lake. Beautiful view of the city and the tour was wonderful. Learned a lot about the city, it's history and its culture. Captain Kevin Wessell did a great job telling us about everything and was a joy to learn from.

I had always wanted to try this architecture cruise. I had been on other tour boats in Chicago, but had heard from friends that the foundation's tours were better. The PBS programs by Geoffrey Baer that I enjoy had also mentioned the cruises. It was a beautiful sunny day. The docent knew his information and history about the buildings and... More

Many "architectural" boat tours to choose from. Why not choose the one executed by volunteers from the Institute of Architecture. A better 90 minutes was not experienced during our weekend in Chicago. Kathy our volunteer guide was over the top good. I know she probably does the tour everyday, but the freshness of her presentation, her knowledge of the finer... More
