The best thing we did in Chicago was taking up the First Lady Cruise. Exciting and memorable. The guide gave a detailed download on the history of the town along with naming the important buildings on our way on both sides of the river. There were tips shared to have a best of Chicago in terms of food and fun.

This tour, led by a volunteer from the Chicago Architecture Foundation, is a must do for a visit to Chicago. On the day we did the tour, it was bitterly cold, but nevertheless the tour guide kept on throughout with fascinating information about the city and its buildings. A great way to see the city.

Definitely do this if you're a first timer. Useful for history and for getting an idea of the layout, plus some real American history. Our docent was great. We even went in the pouring rain, and it was still enjoyable.

It's a must do in Chicago, they know their stuff and bring the city's architecture alive! It's a great trip, we have done it 3 tomes and would do it again.

Excellent way to see and experience the city of Chicago architecturally as well as its evolution over the course of history. We were also fortunate to have an excellent Guide who really guided us through this cruise!

This boat tour was the first thing we did on arriving in Chicago and it provided an excellent overview of the Chicago skyscrapers. For the rest of our trip, as we passed buildings around town, we could appreciate what we were seeing. Our teenagers enjoyed it too, taking lots of pictures, and actually remembered some of the facts as we... More

CAF tours are highly recommended from those "in the know". The tour is 90 minutes of informative fun. Our tour day was sunny @ 3pm which makes for some glaring sun moments and be prepared with a jacket if you are on the top deck. Beverages and snacks are available for purchase.

If weather allows it, take the time to do it. It is a very good tour for non-architects like me because you can experience the beauty of the city and learn fun facts about it as well. The whole experience is very enriching and you get to take amazing shots of the buildings.
