We went to see Sister Hazel, last weekend. Guests of my boss and his wife, who are solid fans. I can see why - very talented band! The venue is great fun, with a lot of levels and various places to sit or stand. Good, friendly service from everyone. The only reason this visit didn't earn an Excellent rating is... More

This is the second time I've been to the gospel brunch. Evidently, there are two--at least--leaders for the singing part of the package, which is food and a gospel "worship" brunch. The food is excellent! I preferred the other leader from a previous visit. This leader was Cedric and he was good, but another man and woman tag-teamed as leaders... More

Purchased a set of tickets online which indicated row and seat number, but when the actual tickets arrived they show seat numbers PLUS standing room only. We stood for 3 hours and many people were in the same boat, and disappointed too. 24 hours before the show HoB sends voicemails and emails telling us the show is starting an hour... More

Well, what's not to like ? Homey, funky feeling. Nice drinks and the MUSIC - the sound is very good. We saw the above-named band on December 7th and they were fabulous, just so tight and the musicianship terrific. Can't wait to go back.

Ten of us, ages 14 to 50+ attended the House of Blues Gospel Brunch and we all had a great time. The food was plentiful--a carving station, an omelette station, a chicken-and-waffles station, and a long table of breakfast, lunch and salad dishes--plus a small dessert table. The Kirk Franklin part was taped, not live, but the local act was... More

For listening to blues or jazz I believe that it's a good place, but I also believe that there are better places. Food is not good at all.

I booked the entire place last November 6 to host my company's annual party. So yep, I had 300 guests along. No problemo. By now you gathered that the place is large. This is Americana. It's large (yep, I'm European, used to cramp little joints, even for superlative venues), lots of wooden, country-style decoration. Food: all the typical fixtures of... More

I had been to the BB King Blues Club and Grill in NYC, so I was excited about this performance on a Sunday afternoon. It started well - well organized, good food, friendly and helpful staff. The show began, with Kirk Franklin the MC and choir director. He's fabulous, and almost worth going for. Funny, great singer, huge personality. But... More

It was a pity we were not able to have a taste of real blues there. We could only go to the Gospel Brunch, which is ok if you want to drown in food, but not that great as a musical experience. Staff very friendly.

Figured no visit to Chicago would be complete without a stop at the House of Blues. We left the Lincoln Zoo, hopped a CTA bus heading downtown, and walked a couple blocks to the H.O.B. We timed it so we could eat and enjoy some music. Loved the show (minus a bit of explicit language--we had our teens with us--but... More
