A wonderful little venue with great acoustics. We saw Hugh Masekela who had everyone on their feet and dancing at the end of the show.

The Old Town School hosts several concerts every week and the acts are very diverse. Recently we saw The Maxwell Street Klemzer Band, Sweet Honey and the Rock, and a concert of Hawaiian Slide Guitar music. Each concert was a great pleasure for us and the rest of the audience. The auditorium is not large, and there are no bad... More

I recently had the pleasure of hearing the folk trio Red Molly at this terrific place. The theatre is intimate and comfortable, and the acoustics are great. The audience really loved the music, and the musicians felt it and expressed their gratitude. I was visiting Chicago only for a few days, but if I lived there, I would be at... More

When I was in Chicago with a group someone made arrangements for the group to see a concert at this venue. Honestly, I was not excited and thought about begging off. I am so glad I didn't. We were treated to a concert by Juancho Herrera, a Colombian and Venezuelan guitarist/vocalist. This was entirely outside of my musical experience, and... More

Mary Schmich and Eric Zorn of The Chicago Tribune have been leading Christmas Carols for fifteen years and this is the first year we bought tickets early enough to this sell out event. What fun! With members of the staff of the School on stage and the crowd festively dressed, we rejoiced and sung together with gusto. A great program... More

Lucky us to be in town when the Old Town School of Folk Music has invited Johnny Sansone to play with several local Blues Harmonica players. The locals were great and Johnny was super. The School is a vibrant community of music-loving people and the shows they sponsor all sound engaging.

Love all types of music, fun to meet the artist after the show. The building was the old neighborhood libarary back in before they moved in so the building is facinating

This used to be my fave venue but as of late, I have found the quality of entertainment has fallen considerably. Could be because of SPACE in Evanston and City Winery in Chicago who seem to have taken the acts that used to go to Old Town. It's a shame as I love Old Town and its location.

Long since moved main location to charming north side Lincoln Square Area, this Chicago institution has a fab all ages music class program but visitors will be drawn to their great concerts, see website for concerts, prices, times. First Friday is a free hootenanny format but weekends usually are top national and international folk, indie pop, world music acts. The... More

We have been attending shows at Old Town for over 10 years and it has everything to offer in variety of performers, jazz, country, folk, rock, world music, you name it, Old Town can deliver. The hall (seats around 400) is in a very nice neighborhood in Chicago, abundant restaurants within a few blocks. Parking is right across the street.... More
