I teach theatre at Beloit College and we routinely attend plays at Lookingglass. The plays are consistently artistically and thematically engaging. Our groups leave the experience appreciating how theatre can entertain while provoking questions and conversation.

Though I live several hours north of Chicago, I love going to the city, especially for the theatre. Lookingglass has become my first choice, due to their interesting choices of plays, and their outstanding productions. 'Metamorphosis', "Still Alice', and 'In the Garden' were all absolutely top-drawer. I'll certainly check the Lookingglass calendar when I'm in need of another dose of... More

This is a most attractive and interesting venue. One gets a chance to stroll around the water plant before going to theater. Theater is comfortable and sight lines good from all seats. We saw In The Garden, and it was a wonderful production and extremely well acted.

On a recent visit to Chicago, I was looking for something to do in the evening. Because I was alone, a visit to the theater sounded like a great idea. I chanced upon the Lookingglass Theater and their production of "In the Garden: A Darwinian Love Story." Being intrugued by the subject, I bought a ticket, and I was absolutely... More

During our most recent visit to Chicago, we attended a Lookingglass production in their beautiful theater space on north Michigan Avenue. The theater is intimate, with not a bad seat in the house. The production we saw (In the Garden) was excellent, beautifully-staged, and well executed. A friend had recommended we visit the theater, and we're glad we did.

Lookingglass Theatre Company is a very talented crew!! The costumes and stage props are always a perfect fit, and fun!! There was true chemistry and emotion transmitted by the actors performing "In the Garden." There is certainly not a bad seat in the house! We also experienced one of their avant-garde performances several years ago with "Lookingglass Alice." Truly fascinating,... More

Lookingglass Theatre is a small playhouse located in the pumping house of the old Chicago Water Tower. It is actually across the street from the tower, built of the same golden limestone, and houses a tourist information center. If you are a visitor, a visit to the information center should be on your list. You may also purchase Hot Tix... More

I love the intimate setting of the Lookingglass theater. We saw In the Garden, a Darwinian Love Story and were thoroughly enthralled with the interesting themes of Christianity and Darwinism along with the dynamics of the Darwin marriage. The script was very well done and the actors were excellent. We left the theater discussing the play and the themes. A... More
