We have season tickets and find the selection of plays, the intimacy of the theater and the quality of productions to be top notched. The plays the theater selects are unusual: a musical about a boating disaster, how Jackie Robinson got moved to the big leagues, Greek Mythology are just some of the subjects covered this past season. All were... More

What a fabulous production! I loved the set, the actors, and how the audience is made to feel they are a part of the production. Usually, I do not like seeing a movie or play after I've read the book, but this was one major exception to my rule. Loved every moment of this production.

I have been lucky enough to have been invited to several opening nights at the Lookingglass. Each one has been truly excellent. The building where the plays take place is very quirky and adds to the atmosphere. Metamorphasis was amazing. Set in a tank of water. I am going to another new production at the weekend and am really looking... More

Went to the preview...unbelievable cast, so poignant. Outstanding representation of Alzheimer disease from the patient to family perspective. Wonderful performance in an intimate setting.

The production of "The Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo" at the Lookingglass Theater in Chicago, like every production I have seen there, is top notch. Great acting/directing/lighting in a space that allows you to feel that you are an intimate observer of the story being told.

Such a creative use of space and innovative theater design. The stage and seating ( sometimes on two levels) were designed to be completely flexible - able to be configured to suit any production. They also make use of the space above for the many productions they've done that involve acrobatics. This is a theater and ensemble that take risks... More

We have seen live theater in many different venues, but this is one of my favorites. The historic building, great location on Michigan Avenue, and helpful staff makes this a really special experience. We will try to go every time we visit Chicago.

I have to begin by saying that the location of this theater could not be any better. The old Michigan Ave. pumping station is a beautiful building directly next door to The Water Tower Shopping Center. Well-preserved and architecturally interesting, it makes for an impressive presentation. (I do wish it had a larger marquee. Hard to spot during the day.)... More

Try to see every play. They are always creative and innovative. Can not agree with the previous viewer about Historical plays. Their play are so different but always professionally done with supperb acting and production. Love it!

Lookingglass is a small city theater that generally presents historical plays done in a very interesting way. For example, a young girl played the Chicago fire. The venue is comfortable and the tickets are reasonablt priced.
