While on a visit to this wonderful building I said a prayer for the Architects, builders, artists and those who care for this beautiful Cathedral. While there the stillness and respect of other people present made the visit memorable. The Architecture is awesome and the Cathedral must be a great source of pride for the Catholic population of Chicago.

This is one of the nicer Cathedrals you'll find. It has all the trapping you expect in a Mother Church, but with a friendly, homely feel. The hats of deceased Cardinals over the altar are particularly moving.

A huge monument to the depth of the resources of the Catholic Church. The location is also the venue of choice for two of Chicago's most famous mob hits. The cathedral has an enormous pipe organ.

The inside of the church is spectacular and reason enough to visit but if you are Catholic and stay for a Mass well then you will be treated to one of best choirs I have ever heard.

Nice place to catch a 12:10pm Mass while in Chicago. They accommodate those who need a low gluten host!

Great place to go to mass. The church is amazing, I was especially impressed with the woodwork. I went the evening before the Chicago Marathon and they asked all of the runners to come up front for a special blessing. It was awesome standing on the altar with runners from all over the world. Would highly recommend stopping to see... More

An interesting church with beautiful architecture. There are the five Cardinals hats on the ceiling showing how important this cathedral is in the Catholic Church. There is also an impressive organ which on its own is worth a visit. Well worth a visit and a good place for a few minutes of contemplation

Surprisingly small, considering that Chicago is one of the largest dioceses in the United States. This is a worker's church, like the Cathedral of LaCrosse WI. You get a feel for the history of the Catholic people in the Midwest just by standing here. There are often people praying quietly - I recommend it.

This may not be the most ornate of Catholic worship sites but it has history to burn with the number of influential Cardinals that have had their seat here. Make sure you gaze to the top of the ceiling where the "Red Hats" of past Cardinals hang from the rafters.
