See the title, then add in a homey feel, a corner location, and knowledgeable and friendly service, and you got yourself a very good place to relax. The one thing that does take away from the place is the lack of a kitchen. They do allow you to bring take out or order in a delivery from one of the... More

Map Room was born having in mind a place where travelers, upon their return back home, could meet friends to narrate and talk about their adventures and have a great beer. And it got it! Off Chicago's touristic circuit, Map Room seemed to me to be a mix of neighborhood bar & travelers club. People inside behave "normally" and quietly... More

A key to traveling light is being able to wash your clothes so that you do not have to pack for every day of the week. Some hotels, especially in smaller cities, have guest laundries. However, most quality hotels in large cities assume that guests will sent out any clothes that require washing and ironing at a very high cost.... More

This place has an amazing, if not daunting, list of beer on tap including one served cask style and they do a good job rotating in new choices. There's an impressive bottles list too but with over 20 on tap I never get around to that side of the menu. The atmosphere is that of your basic neighborhood pub, but... More

The tap list is long and varied, but we were not dazzled. Our high expectations were not met in terms of service or ambiance; it's a dump and the barmaid/tender was lacking in knowledge, sophistication and panache. We will not return and prefer The Geneva Ale House.

My wife, a friend, and I were in town visiting someone who lives in the area of this bar. We stopped in and had a couple beers. The first impression is a dive bar, but it has a vast and impressive beer selection. The bartender wasn't able to help guide us much, so we selected on our own. The decor... More

This bar is the worst bar in the city! I am a single respectable female and I got thrown out of this bar for tripping in their bar. I was treated with such disgust, it was very demeaning. Do NOT go to this bar!

After sending an e-mail on January 12 to the Map Room, letting them know that our pub crawl would be making its 16th annual visit on Sat, Feb 2, we were quite dismayed to be refused service when we arrived yesterday. I asked the bartender what happened that he would not pour anyone a beer? He said "owner's policy not... More
