We took the 7 p.m. tour on a Saturday night and enjoyed every minute. Our guide (Cassie) had her script down, so she was able to ad lib when necessary - it was fascinating. For anyone who loves Chicago and loves architecture, this trip is a must-do. It is reasonably priced at $23 a ticket; we chose Wendella after looking... more

Had originally planned to go on the Shoreline tour but it was sold out for the entire day. We walked across the bridge to the Wrigley building and the Wendella was available and cheaper! We sat on the top deck in the back. This was a good move as we had a little bit of shade and the speaker was... more

We decided to take the hour and a half architectural boat tour with Wendella Boats. The boat was very clean and comfortable. The crew were very friendly. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the buildings on the Chicago River, the Lakefront, and about Chicago history in general. It is a very relaxing tour also. I would... more

If you do not arrive early and wait in line, you will end up on the lower deck. The whole purpose was to sit on the top that is open so you can see the city. We ended up on the lower deck. We were disappointed in this tour. more

This was the highlight of our Chicago trip! We boarded right across the street from our hotel (Hyatt Regency) after grabbing a cocktail at the outdoor bar just down the path from the ticket booth. We were trying to get tickets for the "Architecture" tour, but it was sold out. The ticket agent recommended something she called an "Urban" tour,... more

We took this tour on 06/22/09 at 11am, expecting an informative and fun tour. Unfortunately we seemed to have gotten the worst tour guide on record. She read most of the information from cards and gave nothing extra. On top of that she was extremely hard to hear and seemed to find speaking for any length of time very difficult.... more

I have been on the Wendella tours many times when family and friends come to visit me in Chicago. I have been on the other tour boats in the city but I truly believe that Wendella gives a great tour for the best price. I read a few of the reviews here and a couple of people mentioned the architecture... more

Best value is to get combined river and lake tour ticket at $23 rather than just the river tour at $22. The combined tour last 90 minutes compared to 60 minutes for just the river part. Fun going through the lock to get onto the lake which comprises of a trip around Navy Pier and back with some good views... more

I really enjoyed the tour. It was a beautiful day and it was a really nice was to become accquianted with a big part of the city without having to walk everywhere. I would say this was one of the highlights of my trip and also pretty affordable. more

My wife and I recently visited Chicago for the first time in late April, 2009 and took the 1 1/2 hour joint river/lake tour with Wendella. Note that the architectural society (whatever they are called) tours did not start until May so we could take that tour even if we wanted to. I'll also caveat the review by saying we... more
