This is an excellent free service using the skills of local Chicagoans. Gary, our Greeter was welcoming, informative and knowledgeable. This was our first visit to Chicago and it gave us a real feel of what Chicago has to offer. We looked round the Cultural Centre, visited Millennium Park and the surrounding area. My wife set up our reservation prior to our Chicago visit. Our greeter, Dick Elkins, was very nice and quite knowledgeable about Chicago. Our tour stayed within walking distance of our meeting place which was the Visitor Center. The history and architecture highlighted during the 4 hours was amazing. I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone spending time in downtown Chicago.

The depth of knowledge that Wally had of the city made our stay in Chicago much more fulfilling. In fact, my husband and I revisited some of the buildings...

We visited Chicago last September and before going were tipped off about the Greeter service. We contacted them about two weeks before travelling and from then on the service was superb - we were asked the purpose of our trip, our interests, anything we wanted to see! Our greeter was called Bill - really helpful, interesting guy - a jazz...

If this is your first visit to Chicago, as it was for us, take advantage of the free Chicago Greeter program and register on-line at least 2-weeks in advance.
