Our General Tour: https://goo.gl/maps/oQuqB What a phenomenal program! As a visiting tourist to a new "frontier" you could not ask for a more welcoming experience. The Greeter volunteers, who rightfully take great pride in their great City, are to be thanked from the top of every skyscraper! Our Greeter, Bill Moss, was simply a star! For our first day of... Such an amazing group of people. Our Tour Guide Joel was just fantastic. He was so friendly, helpful & knowledgeable about Chicago. He like the other people who are on staff, volunteer their time and show you around their hometown. We saw so many things we would have never found by ourselves & he even took us on the El... More

My husband and I registered for the greeter tour about two weeks before we visited Chicago. We were able to list our preferences for the tour (like what we would want to see and our interests.) We were matched with a guide who could best accommodate what we wanted to see. Our guide Tom was great! We are so appreciative... More

The Chicago Greeter was an excellent tour guide for our informative trip inside the loop. She was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the Loop and the historical information found in many of the buildings. She introduced us to the Cultural Center, The Rookery, Palmer Hotel and the beautiful Tiffany work in Macy's, just to name a few attractions. She ensured that... More

we had a great experience seeing Chicago's wonderful buildings both old and new. Our greeter met us on time at the appointed place and asked us what we were interested in seeing. Before we set out he gave us a brief history of Chicago which set the scene for some of the things we would see. We got to see... More

This was such a wonderful experience! I had been to Chicago several times, but wanted to expand my knowledge and visit some of the neighborhoods. The problem is that it can be overwhelming deciding which ones to visit, how to get there, and what to see. The Chicago Greeter program solves that because it is like a personalized tour. It... We had a very nice experience with Chicago greeter. We got a lot of information and we had a nice tour. Afterwards we went for a drink with our guide / greeter. It's really a great organisation all based on volunteers, wauw! Thanks a lot.

This is an absolutely ideal way to start one's stay in Chicago. I signed up after seeing the glowing reviews and it is hands down one of the best city tours I have ever undertaken. My tour guide Randy Green was knowledgeable, urbane, funny, witty and passionate about Chicago. I recommend this program highly -- you will learn so much... More

Staying in Downtown / The Loop

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.
