We are moving to Chicago and used this service to help us get a feel for neighborhoods and how the public transportation systems worked. We could not have been more thrilled. Our guide, Gail, was an amazing resource. She was funny, knowledgable, practical and filled with 'insider' tips for us. She emailed us prior to meeting us and has stayed... More

I was greeted by the nicest man ever, Peter. He was a walking encyclopedia of Architecture and History about Chicago. It was my first time to visit and I loved all the details he shared with me. We toured the Loop and gave me a fantastic glimpse of all the wonderful buildings and architectural styles that are part of this... More

I can't recommend the Chicago greeter tours highly enough! We spent a lovely couple of hours touring Graceland Cemetary with Marianne. It was a beautiful fall afternoon and marianne was a wealth of knowledge about the architecture an the history of the people buried here. We learned so much and saw some neat things. The personal touch was really wonderful.... More

I hate to complain about a free service that is run by volunteers, but since I decided to try this program based largely on the TripAdvisor reviews, I felt that I should share my experience. We have never visited Chicago before, so we requested a tour including art, architecture, and/or Chicago history, with the neighborhood left as 'Greeter's Choice.' We... More

I had never thought of Chicago as a tourist spot, but after spending 3 days (2 nights) there I was really taken with what is there to do. There is a beautiful drive along the shores of Lake Michigan (3rd largest of the Great Lakes). Willis Tower (formerly Sears) has a glass platform which retracts four to five feet from... More

I really love this volunteer program. It was our first time visiting Chicago and we had already done the typical museums and tour of the loop. Randy was very accommodating and we decided to do a Gold Coast Tour and then visit Wriglyville. He knows a lot about architectures, so I would def recommend Randy if you want to know... More

I came to Chicago knowing little of its history or what it had to offer. During our walking tour Ray helped us experience the well-known and insider's Chicago. We not only had a great day, but we used the information we learned throughout the rest of our trip, from bus information to where the best locations in the city are... More

Chicago Greeter - a first class experience, thank you so much. On a previous trip to the USA I had tried to get a New York Greeter, unfortunately I was not successful. This time I was traveling to Chicago and thought I would apply for for a Chicago Greeter. Within two days of my request, I was advised that my... More

It's free! And informative! And personally tailored to your interests! I mean really, what more do you want? Judy was our guide and she was awesome. We went into loads of amazing lobbies that we would have just wandered right by had she not shown us. It's like going on a walking tour with an interesting, worldly aunt or something.... More

We had some yummy South Indian and Indo-Chinese food. The marketplaces had some unique fruits and veggies and delicious sweets!
