A beautiful beach in the middle of the city right next to Lincoln Park half a mile from the Lincoln Park Zoo. The beach was huge, had good sand, and great skyline view/photo opportunity. Walking distance from public transportation.

Get there early, especially on Holidays and Special Events! You might want to consider staying nearby, at The Drake, or Residence Inn, and walking to this beautiful location. Anytime you have a chance to visit this area of Chicago is special. Beach activities will allow you to enjoy this "Gem" in Chicago!

What could be better than a beautiful beach in the middle of a beautiful city? This is a great place for a walk or bike ride, as well as typical beach activities.

This place is amazing for the air and water show..if you have time you should go Thursday before the show to watch them pratice..do not drive here when they have any kind of events..ride you bike or take the train and bus..bring your own food and maybe toilet paper cause the bathroom may not have it.

North Ave is certainly a fun beach. Not the best beach in the city to bring a family, as it's mostly 20 and 30 somethings drinking and having a good time. Not to say there aren't families there, but mostly people partying and enjoying themselves. Castaways is also located there, which is hard to beat.

It's always nice to come down here and enjoy the water and nice weather out! However, the water is very cold. Every time I've been here, we've always enjoyed it. It's free but if you're not there early, parking will be hard to find close by. And let's not forget, there's always a fee for parking!

We had a blast at the beach. We were able to get a Cabana and some chairs and sit right in front of the beach. The kids were not out of the lake for over 5 hours. It was possible that was the best day in Chicago.

We walked over here after Lincoln Park. It's big, crowded but not overly (Plenty of space), it has bathrooms and a cool ship restaurant with outdoor seating. We stopped and spent more time than we thought here. This is a great beach for kids or just adults. Hard to believe this is just outside downtown Chicago. Great paths for bikes... More

We visited the beach on a Monday afternoon. It was perfect weather, so I figured it'd be crowded. It was busy, but definitely not too packed. I was surprised at how clean and nice the water was. The sand had a little trash (some glass), but was cleaner than I had expected. We were also surprised with the size of... More
