Two stories of American Girl Doll fun. All the dolls, clothes, accessories, sales PLUS hair salon, restaurant, and bakery. Honestly, the best part? There's a place to sit and charge your phone near the doll hair salon (if your daughter is old enough to be a few feet away) :)

Our daughter loves AG and even without her with us we still had to visit. After all this is where it all started so this is the store of stores when it comes to AG. Each store sells their token souvenir shirt and the best part of this store is that because it is so large everything is spread out... More

I took my 8 year old daughter to American Girl Place for the first time in early April. It was her first trip to Chicago and she was overwhelmed by the size of the store. She said there are "almost too many choices". Of course, American Girl is expensive but anyone who goes there already knows that. We did buy... More

We've traveled to LA, Denver, Minneapolis, Columbus, etc... This store is one of the largest and my daughter's favorite. This store offers nice large displays, good staff.

A visit to the American Girl Cafe is a must if your girl likes these dolls. Bring your doll or borrow one to sit at your table. Food is delish! A little pricey, but you are paying for the whole experience. Set a budget for your girl before arriving so you don't walk out of the store having spent a... More

We've been here numerous times and it's always a lot of fun for my girls. It's definitely quite pricey but if you daughter is really into it then its worth it. I recommend staying out of the cafe, the food is quite mediocre but the prices are ridiculously priced. Pick a nice doll, outfit or accessory and head back to... More

Our daughter had a lot of fun here. It is a huge store... Much bigger than back home. Everything is pricey but that was no surprise. We had lunch in their Resturant which she loves and had a lot of little extras. Shopping was fun. Parking is costly at the parking garage (about $35 for two hours)

American Girl has spanned to satellite locations in multiple cities. But they look like a neighborhood lemonade stand compared to the original. My husband usually breaks out into hives when we go into our local store. It's crowded with screaming girls running every which way and no clear lines of sight. In contrast, the Chicago flagship store has everything well... More

This place is amazing! The staff was all super friendly. The displays for each girl are really neat to look at. My daughter LOVED looking at the old American Girl of the Year dolls and getting her picture with the Grace display.

Staying in Magnificent Mile

Neighborhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale. Some of the city’s most iconic buildings like the Wrigley Building, John Hancock Center and other architectural marvels define the magnificence of this neighborhood.
