Its concierge-like treatment of all of its guests, and the ability of its experienced guides to engage visitors through skillful story-telling have set standards in Chicago. It offers a "no-gimmicks" product delivered in an engaging and professional style. Personal treatment for guests begins at the outset of their day. If you are staying at a Loop area hotel, your guide greets you in the lobby to begin your tour experience. If you are a disabled tourist or have special needs to be addressed, Walk Chicago Tours devises a completely accessible itinerary at no extra cost. There is also no combining of groups or joining groups with strangers. Each tour reservation is a private promise...only your group with your own private guide(see FAQ page of their website). Guides at Walk Chicago Tours have been carefully chosen based upon their natural ability to engage visitors and to narrate historical facts, culture and urban lore. The company motto, "A Story on Every Corner", is typical of the ownership's insistence that Chicago's history, its neighborhoods, its culture and urban lore be delivered to visitors in an entertaining and informative manner that appeals to a wide array of groups. In fact, several of the guides are former teachers with years of experience at engaging listeners. The result has been the reputation that Walk Chicago Tours is Chicago's most competent story telling ambassador. No service is more zealous about wanting you to leave Chicago loving Chicago as much as they do. And, they attempt to do this at a price that fits the budget of every visitor. Large groups are accomodated by the use of multiple guides. See their website and visit their FAQ page for answers to most of your questions. Email or call and they will respond immediately. . « less

Terry from Walk Chicago was our guide for two tours -- the Gold Coast and Little Italy. He is a passionate Chicagoan who loves to introduce visitors to the architecture and history of the Windy City. He was delighted to show us some out of the way places and provide us with personal insights into local politics and some colourful... More

I always try to do a walking tour in every city I visit as this is generally the best way to see a city, hear its stories and get past the obvious tourist highlights. Mimi Duginger with Walk Chicago Tours proved this principle again - she was excellent as she took us through Old Town, pointing out the hidden corners,... More

The other reviews have already said it. After talking to Terry and arranging the tour we knew it was going to be good, but it was even better than anticipated. Even without the tour we loved Chicago, but Mimi made it come alive and opened our eyes to all kinds of special hideaways, special artwork tucked here and there, glorious... More

WSJ had a review of Terry Sullivan, his company, his guides and their goals. Contact was easy, reservations and suggestions given to fit our ideas by Terry. What an easy process, guides are experts, in the Loop...Tiffany,Chagall,Picasso, many stories told by Alan...then to Old Town with Mimi...she has the knowledge, knows the people and is a master of info. My husband and I had an amazing walking tour with Mimi of the loop area. Our guide was a wealth of knowledge and a passionate about the city. The tour really was a wonderful way to see the treasures of the city inside and outside of the building. Really loved it.

After reading the good reviews for Walk Chicago Tours online, I contacted the company via e-mail to schedule a walking tour as I had family coming to Chicago from out of town. I was personally called back by Terry who politely provided all of the information about possible walking tours for our given date. We were picked up right at... More

After reading the rave reviews on Tripadvisor, I contacted Terry, the owner of Walk Chicago Tours, about booking 2 half-day tours for our group of 3 adults and 5 teens. As a result, I now am returning to add my own rave review! From our first phone conversation,Terry was incredibly responsive and keen to create two personalized tours based on... More

I brought Mexican graduate students on a tour of Pilsen with James. He was very enthusiastic and genuine in his knowledge and passion of the neighborhood. Although we had gloomy weather, James was so positive and insightful that we hardly noticed. His vast knowledge of the public murals included a wide range of important Mexicans that impressed and excited the... More

Walk Chicago Tours was recommended by friends who walked with Terry. He called me back and gave us valuable advice regarding the route and timing of our walk, as we had a tight timeline in Chicago. He dispatched James to our hotel, who arrived promptly, and proceeded to entertain and inform us. He related well to our 12 year old... More

The tour was engaging and delightful. No details were missed and every story built anticipation and excitement.I was proud to be standing in the same places as some of America's most iconic (or notorious) people. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in design or architecture.
