We made several trips over to Michigan Avenue from our nearby hotel while visiting Chicago. The architecture is impressive, the window-shopping is incredible, and there is plenty of opportunities for people watching along the way.

Just another city street with expensive stores. Worth a stroll but not sure what the big deal is...I guess if you are a high end shopper then this is the place for you.

Visiting from Boston, I couldn't help but compare Chicago's main shopping street with our Newbury street and I just was not impressed. Big retail store fronts on each side of a busy street filled with cars and tough to cross over. Lot's of people walking and you end up waiting to cross another busy street at each block. It's worth... More

They do not call the main shopping area the Magnificent Mile for nothing. Plenty of variety and plenty of places to eat and drink, and at prices considerably less than in the UK. My wife loved it.

The architecture and the street-scape is lovely. There are lots of people and lots of energy. The stores are upscale and I got a feel similar to the shopping area in Palm Beach. It's fun.

Huge selection of high-end stores and also hotels, restaurants and bars. The Oxford Street, 5th Avenue and Ginza of Chicago. How can one visit without coming here? Accurately called, 'The Magnificent Mile'.

Maybe I didn't make it far enough down but I didn't see any shops that aren't in my local mall. No Louis Vuittan, but I did find Tiffany & Co. :-)

The best city walk about ever. Wide, clean, beautiful architecture to look at, stone and brass design doorways. Even unique glass/brass street elevators to take you down to the subway. Oh yes then there is the great shopping options!

We didn't walk up Michigan Avenue for the shops but for the sights. We walked quite some way up the street from the Art Institute. There are many amazing buildings along the way like the Chicago Tribune building with it's amazing architecture. A definite must if you are in Chicago and enjoy gorgeous architecture.
