Forget the indoor malls, the mega malls, and the suburbs. This is where you should do your shopping, be it window shopping or buying shopping. Every store you can think of is on Michigan Avenue or just off of it, along with every sort of place to eat you can imagine, and countless classic hotels. The street is bustling with... More

My son and I took to Michigan Ave today, we walked from our hotel (Congress Plaza) past Millennium Mile. He's only 9 and there was enough to keep both of us entrained until the afternoon. We walked through the park and did some shopping and then took the bus to the zoo. Perfect first day in Chicago.

There are so many stores and restaurant's, this is a must when you visit the city, make sure you take lots of money to spend, while eating isn't that expensive.

Lots of energy in this place. Everywhere you look there's a great store to shop at! Awesome Chicago architecture along the way and some historic landmarks make for a great walk (even if you don't shop).

Michigan Avenue has many shops including apple, Columbia, Tiffany's, American Girl and Neiman Marcus to name a few. The Water Tower is also located here. The John Hancock 0bservatory or 360 degrees Chicago as it is now called is located here. Millennium Park is off michigan. Michigan Avenue is the place to be in Chicago with shops, restaurants and attractions.

An excellent area to visit whether you are a visitor or native to Chicago. We enjoy walking down Michigan Avenue from Millennium Park to the John Hancock Building with stops throughout the various shops in the area with tons more shopping at the multi-level Water Tower. Several dining options and of course tons of people watching. Of course as with... More

I have been to Chicago frequently over the last 3 decades and am always amazed at how the pulse of the city is continually changing. These days more than ever, it is always great to stay within walking distance of Michigan Avenue.. Beginning at the Art Institute with its ever changing and wonderful exhibits.. (a true gem), walking across the... More

They have doubled the parking rates after Chicago sold all public parking to a private company which promptly doubled the rates and shortened your stay. This leads to more fines and excessive parking charges. A win win for Chicago. Noisy and packed with rude people walking into you, keep your hand on your valuables. Don't expect much help from cops,... More

With Chicago's reduced police force the magnificent mile gets pretty scary in the evenings. Large groups of out of control youths creating havoc! If your brave and want to risk it at the very least DO NOT walk around holding a smart phone or ipad as your chances of "losing" it will be almost 100%.
