Chicago's Oxford str.

Nice shops and cafes, pretty similar to Oxford Street in London. You can find bargains, but it is mainly expensive shops.

As first timer's to Chicago, we were fortunate to have a hotel on Michigan Ave about 5 blocks north of the Chicago River. There was so much to see and do, it was overwhelming, yet exciting and fun! All the big name stores are there in one convenient location from high fashion to technology (incl. Apple Store) to sportswear to... More

I love discovering new cities, however in every city I feel cramped. This wasn't the case for Chicago, as Michigan Ave is very wide and open and doesn't make you feel claustrophobic amongst the skyscrapers. The mile long avenue is filled with shops like Victoria's Secret, Tiffany's, Forever21, The Disney Store, Dylan's Candy Bar and many more - something for... More

Just walking downtown Chicago is an enjoyable experience, but shopping and browsing along Michigan Avenue is even more fun. The stores, the people walking by, the taxi cabs and all the signage and lights is mezmerizing. Day or night, it's a lot of fun.

This is a street full of high end stores and shops with all of the designer brands available. It's fun to hit all the stores, hit a restaurant or two for a drink, lunch or dinner. Chicago is one of our nations great cities and it is much easier to get around than New York.

It's a shoppers paradise. And shops to suit all pockets. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Also lots of hotels if you want to be close to the shops. Just make sure you wear comfy shoes. That said I prefer New York.

Michigan Avenue is one of my favorite shopping destinations in the country. The streets are clean and they have a great selection of stores. I also like that there are restaurants all over the place so finding a great place to sit down and eat isn't difficult. If you are in chicago, make sure to walk down michigan avenue and... More

Michigan Avenue is great any time of the year. Walking up and down the avenue brings all of your senses to light. There is much to look at and do. Take a horse carriage ride though the Mag Mile, or just walk up and visit all the horses lined up by Water Tower place waiting for their turn. Don't forget... More

Easy access to great shops on the Mile!! So close to the hotel and it really felt safe walking- lots of people and buzz. Plus you wont find a hard time eating somewhere, lots of restaurants around. Gino's (deep dish pizza) is literally right next to the hotel.

I'm not a shopper, so this isn't my cup of tea. But others in my family enjoy walking down the street. I've even walked the streets on Black Friday - surprisingly the crowds were manageable.

Staying in Magnificent Mile

Neighborhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale. Some of the city’s most iconic buildings like the Wrigley Building, John Hancock Center and other architectural marvels define the magnificence of this neighborhood.
