Only one of two buildings to survive the Chicago fire. Walk by is sufficient though there are several things to do in the areas.

Like most businesses in Chicago camouflaged inside big buildings, the Water Tower mall doesn't jump out at you. In fact, I walked past it several times, not even realizing there was a mall inside that building! But once in, there's a customer service desk, and escalators taking you to the main level. Which is where it gets interesting. The mall... More

Really cool site, right in downtown Chicago. An important piece of Chicago's history, and also very impressive to look at, it is close to the fancy shops, and worth a quick glance at. Wish the city would do something about the traffic on that street though; very fast and dangerous with so many pedestrians.

Lots of great shops in 7 stories. Be sure to visit Harry Carey's on the top floor and make a short visit to the Chicago Sports Museum.

Cool to see one of the Historic Buildings that survived the fire. There were many wedding photos being taken on the weekends. If you have time they offer free exhibits in the Water Tower.

We were visiting The American Girl place and The Lego Store and had some time to wander around. It is a rather busy mall but has a nice mix of restaurants and stores. I suggest starting all the way at the top and working your way down each floor so you don't miss anything

We visit here with our boys each time we come. They get their Auntie Anne's pretzel bites and enjoy stores that are more familiar to them. The two story moving fountain at the entrance is a must see!

Staying in Magnificent Mile

Neighborhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale. Some of the city’s most iconic buildings like the Wrigley Building, John Hancock Center and other architectural marvels define the magnificence of this neighborhood.
