You can get off the Metra train and get a cheap boat ride to Michigan Ave, Navy Pier, and on the weekends - China Town. It is a great way to see the city and costs about $3-$4. It is the best bargain going in the city. It doesn't matter if you live here or are a tourist, you will... More

Love the Water taxi. Fun for the kids. Every summer I the bring the grandkids down town on the train from the suburbs. We go to Navy Pier, 95th etc. Last year at Navy Pier we took a fun boat ride. Creating nice memories for the kids. I can't believe anyone would NOT enjoy this.

My husband and I like taking the water taxi to get from the museums to Navy Pier. The kids love it too! Be aware, though, on really windy days, the waves may get a little bumpy. Just a heads up :)

The longer boat tours offered by the Chicago Architectural Foundation are wonderful and I highly recommend them but they can be pricey for families. If you're looking for an inexpensive way to see Chicago from the river hop on a water taxi. There's no tour guide but it's an enjoyable boat ride and a great way to get around the... More

If you live in the City, you can make Great Use of the Water taxis. They travel down the Chicago River and Lake michigan from areas like China Town to Union Station (Train Station) all the way down the River to Michigan Ave with stops in between and out to the lake all the way to Museum Campus and McCormick... It was nicely managed, the time taken to get on board was little more. The guide and the knowing the history part was excellent. The duration of 1 hour is also good time to see and understand. Over all the arrangements are good.

We used the Chicago Water Taxi to get from Shedd Aquarium to Navy Pier. It's relatively inexpensive, plus it's a fun experience! It was windy, so Lake Michigan was very choppy. We ended up getting soaking wet! They handed out ponchos, but by the time we got them, we were already drenched. This wouldn't have been so bad if it... More

Actually we went on the Water Taxi back in 2010? I didn't review it back then because I never heard of TripAdvisor at that time. I wish Milwaukee had the Water Taxi which is where I am from. I love being on the water and this was great. It can't take you right to where you're going but it can... More

Why sit in traffic, waiting on red lights, and pay dearly to get where you need to go. The Chicago water taxi can get you there quicker and for a fraction of the cost.
