We are Chicago's river transportation service. An iconic fleet of black and yellow boats, we serve all three branches of the Chicago River from March to November. Our stops include Michigan Avenue, Chinatown, North Avenue, Clark and LaSalle, and Union and Ogilvie Train Station. There is no better way to get around Chicago than by boat!

If you live in the City, you can make Great Use of the Water taxis. They travel down the Chicago River and Lake michigan from areas like China Town to Union Station (Train Station) all the way down the River to Michigan Ave with stops in between and out to the lake all the way to Museum Campus and McCormick... It was nicely managed, the time taken to get on board was little more. The guide and the knowing the history part was excellent. The duration of 1 hour is also good time to see and understand. Over all the arrangements are good.

We used the Chicago Water Taxi to get from Shedd Aquarium to Navy Pier. It's relatively inexpensive, plus it's a fun experience! It was windy, so Lake Michigan was very choppy. We ended up getting soaking wet! They handed out ponchos, but by the time we got them, we were already drenched. This wouldn't have been so bad if it... More

Actually we went on the Water Taxi back in 2010? I didn't review it back then because I never heard of TripAdvisor at that time. I wish Milwaukee had the Water Taxi which is where I am from. I love being on the water and this was great. It can't take you right to where you're going but it can... More

Why sit in traffic, waiting on red lights, and pay dearly to get where you need to go. The Chicago water taxi can get you there quicker and for a fraction of the cost.

This is a great way to see the city skyline as well as a convenient service for getting to the aquarium. Its also inexpensive so a must-do when you're in Chicago.

The Water taxi was very convenient and loved the experience of getting to see the city from a different angle than what you would see from the streets or standard taxi. Don't miss this inexpensive experience.

Easy way to get to Chinatown, its about a 20 min trip, website has schedule. You'll have about 5-10 walk through a small park and nice neighborhood before you get to Chinatown shops and restaurants. You can buy tickets at the Ogilvie/Union Station Dock but not at Chinatown. You can also buy once you board. Ogilvie/Union Station to Chinatown was... More

Most locals abstain from river/lake cruises because, hey, that's for tourists! A notion not aided by the fact that most public boats get under way from Navy Pier. For those skeptical locals (and curious tourists!) I highly recommend the CWT. It's a cheap, efficient, and fun mode of transportation. Depending on where you live and work, it's entirely possible you... More
