Visit Navy Pier, downtown, and China Town via the water. Reasonably priced. We took a water taxi from downtown to Navy Pier and back. It's probably faster to go by bus, but hey, you're in Chicago, on the Chicago River, and your a tourist - so why not? Kids thought it was especially cool.

So, this is one of the cheapest ways to get around in Chicago and I avoided it for ten years because I thought it would be one of the most expensive. Be smarter than me. The all day unlimited pass is $8. No kidding. And..... wait for it...you can get all the way to Chinatown and Dim Sum from downtown... More

Thank GOD (really, God) for the angel sitting next to me at the graduation! When she learned we were going to drive to Downtown Chicago she suggested something better. She told me to take the Metra train right across the street from the base. Once in Chicago, to take The water Taxi. It was amazing, inexpensive and a great way... More

The Chicago River Water Taxi from the foot of the Wrigley Building on Michigan Ave. (northeast section of downtown) is a fun (and cheap) ride to the Ogilvie Transportation Center/Civic Opera House (south west section of downtown) and beyond if you transfer to the Chinatown leg of the trip. The ride will take you down the Chicago River past many... More

We took the Water Taxi from the Trump Tower up to the Pier and back. And the next day we went the opposite direction towards the Willis Tower. Loved it as it's a really nice and relaxing way to get where we wanted to go and after exploring the city on foot for miles this was a very welcome relief!... More

The tour is a must do!. So much history. Old and new. Buildings and culture. Architecture knowledge. The way chicago came to. After the fire. The way the buildings are built right above the traintracks. Marvelous. I love this city. My first time here. Would come again. The tour puts light on the history of the city. I highly recommend... Grab a day pass and feast your eyes while saving your feet. It's only $8 during the week and $10 on weekends. You can get on and off as often as you like visiting as many locations as you like. The views are magnificent from the water both day and night.

Having discovered that we could enjoy unlimited travel on the water taxi for the cost of a day ticket .....8 dollars this seemed the best way to spend what was clearly going to be a very wet afternoon . The route is similar to the more expensive river cruises : true you don't get the commentary and the seating is... More

Sightseeing is not the only way to get onto the river, there are water taxis for commuting to various stops along the waterway, they do not provide any commentary. We each bought a day ticket at the Wendella Ticket Office, to effectively hop-on and hop-off the taxi boats at will. In early season, May, we discovered this was not a... More
