This is a great place to spend a day with family. Be forewarned, Navy Pier is the second most popular free tourist attraction in the U.S., behind Mall of America. However, it will cost you considerable $ to visit. Free admission, nothing is free once inside. Having said that - our grandkids love to ride the Sea Dog Extreme. It's... More

It is an oasis in the middle of the city. Something for everyone to do and something for everyone to eat. If you can only do one thing in Chicago, visit the Pier. The Ferris Wheel is lots of fun and offers spectacular views of both the city and the lake.

Even though we live in the city, we often go to Navy Pier for the attractions and the all around beauty of the location. If you are visiting Chicago, Navy Pier is a can't miss.

Navy Pier fun and exciting. It is Chicago's tourist attraction and once you visit you know why. It has a Ferris wheel many places to eat, entertainment and the best thing is you can get there by bus. Don't forget to try the water boats especially to see the fireworks and most of all eat at Forest Kump an experience... More

Perfect for kids but wildly expensive to keep the kids busy for the day. The children's museum is fabulous. Buy a membership and you can take the kids there day after day. It is well worth it. My kids lived in the Home Depot toom.

Not much here but a bunch if tourists and tourist related bars/eateries. If thats your thing you'll enjoy it. Otherwise, enjoy other parts of the city that are genuine

I thought this would be more, but it really isn't more than a bunch of restaurants and rides. Which is fine, for a little bit. It does get cool by the water, so bring a jacket. I had a great time, but wouldn't want to stay very long. Be sure to go to the fireworks at night!

Can you say "crowds"? We went because it was the "place you can't miss" when visiting Chicago. We didn't have any young children with us. It was very crowded and not much there to do - there was a large Ferris wheel and some kid rides. A few docks for boat tours and a very crowded mini mall. We did... More

Did you know that Navy Pier once was the site for University of Illinois-Chicago ? The students (my husband for one) called it the only university that could be sunk by a torpedo. The 3,300 pier is undergoing some renovations but still a great place to visit. The Ferris wheel will be dismantled in Sept and rebuilt on a larger... More

Staying in Streeterville

Neighborhood Profile
Streeterville
Streeterville is where visitors head for play at Navy Pier, a pseudo amusement park and development of restaurants, shops, rides, and other activities. You’ll find lots of action and excitement on the docks. Along the pier, you’ll see the statue of the captain for whom Streeterville is named. While you enjoy your fair share of sightseeing at the pier, you can also visit other popular attractions there such as the Chicago Children’s Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Off the pier you’ll find more restaurants from low-cost pubs to high-end establishments. Arts and culture aficionados should be sure not to miss the Museum of Contemporary Art.
