Late Monday afternoon we wandered to the Navy Pier. What a lovely place to walk around and see the light houses and the skyline. It was beautiful and chilly that day. I wish I had more time as I can see where it would be a great place over the summer. More

I had a weird amount of energy after checking into my hotel, and immediately hit the streets to explore. I headed toward the Navy Pier, as being one of those things one has to see when in Chicago. At least for a first-timer. My impression of the place was that it was a huge, very clean, beautifully presented, tourist trap.... More

There is plenty of shopping, restaurants (though mostly american cuisine & fast food), rides, shows. If it's a cold / windy day I'd recommend going to another location but on a nice chicago summer afternoon it's a great place to... More

If you are in need of a not-so-cheap souvenir, this is the place to go. But amid the tourist-trap shops and pricey rides -- like the Ferris Wheel (only a 7-minute ride), miniature golf (didn't appear to be much of anything) and other carousel rides -- are some nice things: Lots of food choices, from fast-food booths to mid-range sit-down... Last month I was visiting Chicago, and one of the places you have to go is the Navy Pier. It's on the Chicago shoreline of Lake Michigan. Its a 3.300 foot (1,010 m) long pier, with restaurants, shops, an IMAX theater, the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Amazing Chicago's Funhouse Maze, the Chicago Children's Museum, the Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows,...
