Store is in the process of remodel, so probably shouldn't judge the facility and the tour only runs once a day. Female employee was not overly friendly and seemed bothered we visited (most stores will greet customers..). To be fair it was getting towards closing time, but we weren't interested in purchasing much with the cool reception...will also share that... More

Years ago this place had a better selection of chocolate and the store was much more displayed. It was disappointing to see it evolve this way.

There seems to be some confusion in the following reviews. The Lexington Drive address (above) is the corporate headquarters, the factory (with tours) and the outlet store. The retail store in Long Grove mentioned in some of the reviews is at a totally different location. Tours cost $2 a person (accommodating 10-30 people) and are offered three times daily during... Big let down! Tours are on the hour with the last one being at 3 on Saturdays. We went at 2 and the lady took our money (shame on you people) knowing that the confection makers were gone and the cleaning crew was in there hosing the place down. We were treated to TV prompts at each station, but most... More

So why visit this place? It isn't like you have seen their products right? Wrong. This company is behind the candies sold in major department stores. What makes their chocolate special? It is virtually handmade. While other manufacturers use a lot of automation, Long Grove uses a very labor-intensive process. Be sure to visit during the week when the production... More

The chocolate is just yummy. We enjoy our visit to this shop. It is a vacationersdream. There is a wonderful assortment of candies. If you can not find what you like here, it is not available anywhere.

Sounds like it was just okay. Could you say more? they did have a nice selection of chocolates to choose from, but nothing we tasted/purchased was to die for! still, long grove downtown is a charming place, and so is the confectionary!

I am a big fan of Fanny May but Long Grove Confectionary is much better. I was given candy from there as a gift from a client many years ago and I was instantly hooked. It's a bit more expensive than other candies but worth every penny of it.

Chocolate paradise. What else can you say? Just the smell when entering the facility makes you want to see the movie Willie Wonka all over again.

This shop is such a fun stop every time we go to Long Grove. Quite a wide variety of candy options, and we randomly saw Vince Vaughn there one time. Apparently, he is a big fan of Long Grove :-)
