I have been going to Brookfield Zoo every year since I was a child. The zoo is filled with a huge variety of animals spread out amongst various houses and exhibits. The oldest animal house dates back to the early 1900's, while the newest opened last year. The zookeepers are very friendly and knowledgeable, and provide great stories about the... more

We went to the boo at the zoo and found over half of the animals either missing or out of sight. If you are going to the zoo, pick Lincon park cuz it is free or plan your trip for the summer time when the zoo still has animals. more

it was fun going to the zoo. We have a toddler and should have checked what is special about the zoo. There is a childrens zoo attraction and that was the only thing he enjoyed a lot. He could brush the goats, feed the cow and take a closer look at the ducks. we should have went first to that... more

In the 1970s “The Night Chicago Died” was a popular songs. The lyrics went something like “I heard my mama cry, I heard her pray the night Chicago died …” Well, Chicago is alive and well, but I did some crying and praying when I was there on vacation. Perhaps I exaggerate. Let me explain. We decided to visit some... more

We have been to this zoo several times, and absolutely love it! We loved it so much, we purchased a family membership, and it has definitely paid for itself. The Brookfield Zoo is huge and you won't see everything in just one trip. Everytime we go, we see something new. It's a family friendly place that has a couple playgrounds... more

I love the zoo, I could spend all day in one!! This is a very beautiful zoo everything seems to have it's place, you don't feel like your walking in circles. November would be the time to go to avoid long lines, sreaming children & close parking spaces. Thankfully it stopped raining/hailing long enough for us to walk around the... more

Last visit to this zoo revealed a lot of transition with lots of exhibits closed or under renovation. In general, it is a first-rate zoo but not quite up to the level of St. Louis or San Diego. more

Yes, general admission is reasonable, but when you visit w/3 youngsters who want entry to special exhibits, it can quickly add up. For us, it seemed more practical to just purchase a family membership to get discounts on these exhibits. I wld never recommend visiting over Labor Day weekend as we did! So many people that my children cldn't fathom... more

Just arrived home from a getaway to Brookfield Zoo. Unfortunately we picked a day when they were talking 60% chance of rain and storms, but it didn't stop us. Parking at the zoo was a breeze as there wasn't anyone else around. After purchasing our tickets (which I found to be cheap!) we headed into the souvenier shop for an... more

First time visit to this zoo during a recent trip to Chicago. I have to say this is one of the cleanest I've ever seen. The animal pens are bigger than let's say the LA zoo which impressed me and the greenery around the zoo grounds is beautiful and well maintained. This zoo also has several indoor exhiibits such as... more
