Just a really neat place to check out if you have time there are quite a few antique stores and food stops

Old town is awesome! You can't just drive through it, you have to park and walk at least a block or two because the architectural detail on the buildings is just amazing! You almost feel like Studebaker's and 53' Chevy's are rumbling by while greasers are acting tough in front of girls in poodle skirts! If you walk too, there... More

The past few years the city has been making some positive strides towards improving old town and its beginning to show. There are many fun shops great eats and cool old buildings.

I'm not sure that this is necessarily a specifac destination. There are stores and businesses but it is nothing out of the ordinary compared to other business district in these rural areas. I do have to say that the City of Pocatello is making strides to make the area more inviting and friendly.

We were staying about a 10 minute drive away. The historic area is well marked as to how to get to it. Its the historic part of Pocatello with its historic churches. Its where some shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars at all. We were there on a Friday night and while people were there, in general, it was pretty quiet... More

This is just one of the very many old areas where the nicer people moved out for various reasons and there was nobody left to clean up and revitalize the hood. It is interesting to drive through in the daytime but doesn't appear very safe at night.

Don't move there. And if you do be prepared to get used to the usual sites. Heroin needles in your garbage can. Crack heads everywhere. My kids almost got kidnapped right off my front step in 30 seconds. I saw prostitution. 4 crack houses within a 3 block radius of where I lived. Drunks 24/7. People constantly letting their dogs... About half the stores are empty, and everything is closed by 5 pm. We saw only one restaurant. Someone has tried to fix up the historic area--there are nice sidewalks, lighting, and benches--and there are a lot of interesting turn-of-the-century buildings, so there's a lot of potential here, but so far it's unrealized. Earlier in our trip, we visited Rapid... More

Such a fun area. Lots of cool eateries and shops. Plenty of Antique shops to keep me busy. Free parking and easy walking.

Old Town has some interesting highlights, but you should drive around first to see where you would like to explore. It contains interesting shops and cafes, but there are many buildings that are closed too. Folks are trying to rejuvenate the area, and the places I found were doing an excellent job of that. The Red Poppy was one of... More
