The lavish Capitol building has it all - domes, corridors and marble, marble, marble. A local told us that Idaho used tobacco compensation money to aggrandise the Capitol building. Having see a few US State Capitol buildings now, I get a sense that they're competing with each other to build the most extravagent showcase of wealth and splendour. It just... More

Really nice building looks like the knock-off of the Washington D.C building. Garden was well kept loved the landscape building was 4 stories .

Idaho's state capitol building is a mini version of the US capitol with all of the classic details. Made from native sandstone, granite and marble, the building is always a joy to me. I have seen several state capitols and Idaho's is one of the most beautiful. It is light and almost luminous because of its beautiful interior. Stand in... More

For a state capitol, it makes a poor showing, rude people, limited views, no parking, building makes a good photo op, gardens are well kept, but the folks there are rude and parking must be paid, doesnt make a good showing for visitors.

he wife and I took a self guided tour of the capitol building. There were many school classes there to get a guided tour, but we did okay. They gave us a map and info and we saw everything. It was very nice.

It is cool how they have the building lit up in the evening while you are walking or driving around downtown. During the day is cool too, but not as fascinating.

Why husband and I visited this beautiful building in May, that resembles our country's Capitol building in design. Located at 700 W. Jefferson , ( phone: 208-334-2475), it is worth a drive by and a tour if time allows. We learned it took 7 years to build this sandstone building, with another three year addition added in the early 1900s.... More

Went to visit the State Capital building around Christmas and to see the huge tree all decorated with lights. Never saw such a wide tree in my life. The capital was all lit up and it was pretty magical.

For those familiar with the Flat Stanley geography project for elementary students, this will make sense. We took our grandson, via Flat Ethan from Washington state, for a visit to the State Capitol. He was able to tour the entire beautifully renovated Capitol, including having his picture taken sitting in the governor's chair. All staff were familiar with this project... More

It is located in central downtown Boise and it's architecturally eye-pleasing. It's an interesting place to visit if you have never been. The marble and stone work is amazing! It's also a great place to take out of town family and friends so they can learn about the history of Idaho. It's Free to all and worthwhile to see!
