Beautiful capital building with a huge rotunda with marble floors and vintage staircases. Tour guides are very knowledgeable. Open year round with poinsettia arrangements surrounding a huge Christmas tree in the middle of it during the holidays.

I was in the Capitol Building this past Saturday morning. It was so comforting, so quiet, not many in there at all, it was cool also, almost 90* outside. Walking around looking at all the pictures on the walls, all the Idaho history and US history, wonderful. The stone, the granite, the old wood, to look at, to touch and... More

Always neat to see the different capitol buildings and now I can check this one off the list. You can go to the top of it which is pretty cool too.

We were very surprised that you were able to walk right into the capital building and pretty much walk through the whole building. They were not in session so we were able to walk into the house and senate wings. There is a small gift shop in the garden level an there was was very nice gentleman who gave us... More

The capital building is easy to find/access. I hear it was restored after a fire some years back, so some faux finishes. There was a display of wood vessels made from historic trees that needed to be removed: So glad the wood was made into something lovely by local artists. Some pictures of legislators past. Would have liked to see... More

Visited with 2 boys ages 8 and 10 during summer (not in session). They really liked it. Go to gift shop. They'll play a tour movie and then give walking your pamphlet. My boys really liked seeing the safe. (You have to ask the treasurer secretary to see it, and they were so pleasant to show it.) we stayed 1:45... More

Capitol is our state's most-treasured building. Within its beautiful sandstone walls, laws have been passed, issues debated, and citizen rights safeguarded for nearly a century. to restore and preserve the Capitol to its original splendor. O

It is not difficult to find the State Capitol building. But you will find that there is no visitors parking area. You will have to look for a parking spot in this relatively busy city. The building is beautiful, both the exterior and the interior. The park around the building with its various statues and monuments is also worth a... More

After just leaving Salt Lake City and seeing their state capitol, Idaho's is a bit less majestic, but very worth seeing. Make sure you go to the Welcome center located in the Garden/basement area first. This area has a great video that can be self selected (one for kids too) and there is a great deal on the history of... More

The building, and it's thoughtful expansions and modernizations, are architecturally interesting. The view of the from the ground floor to the top is impressive as are many Capitol Buildings. Besides being able to see much of the building, the video tour/ history is excellent for all ages - you will learn some history.
