When you grow up in a small city you travel through others or television. Nothing wrong with that but when you arrive in the heart of old town Boise you must stop and admire the capitol building. It is worth a photo moment.

If you are visiting the Boise area I highly recommend you stop by the State Capitol Building and grounds. If you have young children with you (or young adults) this is a great place to learn about Idaho's rich history. This is one of the most beautiful State Capitols in America! I have visited and explored many of our country's... More

It's free, so it's for me! The beautiful stonework make this a must-see if in town! My family and I enjoyed walking around the grounds and inside the Capitol itself. There is even a large replica of the Liberty Bell outside the front steps, which my kids managed to ring.

It was closed for remodeling for over 2 years. Now re-opened, it is a beautiful building. Genuine marble from Vermont, Italy, Alaska, and Georgia. They have expanded the underground area. The man at the info place told us, "Anything that is not locked, you are welcome to explore." So we did! Congressional staff were not very friendly or helpful. But... More

So many state capitols these days are under such heavy security that one does not get the chance to explore and take in the experience of the political environment and the workings of a state legislature and see the heart of the state government system. We were told that we could visit anywhere throughout this building as long as the... More

I got to go into the Capital building after they had finished the renovations. The work was phenomenal and brings out the rich history of the state of Idaho. I was able to go into the different chambers and the Governor's office and you feel a sense of importance and awe. This is worth a trip if you are living... More

I have visited the Capitol Building in DC and this building definitely measures up if not in size in grandeur. I'm not sure I have ever seen so much marble in one structure. It is a very pleasant place to sit and contemplate. We were the only ones under the dome that afternoon beyond a few workers passing through. The... More

Really great building modeled after the U.S. Capitol Building. They had decorated very nicely for the holiday season with poinsettias and garland and a large lighted tree out front.

The capitol building is essentially a duplicate of the US Capitol building in a lot of ways. Solid marble, and huge. Most notable: It was uncrowded and friendly - even got to meet the Governor as he was walking to meet with various staff people - in his shirtsleeves. Gave you the feeling that he is like Lincoln - who... More
