A visit to the state capitol building in Boise is well-worth your time. A capitol restoration project completed in 2010 at a cost of $120 million has made this building shine! The original exterior has been renovated; the interior has been given lots of love including refinished marble and wood flooring, upgraded lighting, hardware restoration and a new passenger elevator.... In the heart of downtown Boise, you can see the beautiful capitol building, and her stunning, towering rotunda for miles. Ample parking is available all around the building, making it an easy tour even with those with disabilities. Best photo opportunities occur from standing across the street from the capitol building, facing the beautiful columns and steps. Once inside, you... More

Late 19th century architecture, lots of stone. Beautiful décor throughout the building. Many rooms available for tourists.

We were pleasanty surprised by Boise overall. My 18 year old son and I were visiting Boise for a Niece's wedding on Friday August 8 and got into town very early on August 7 and did some sightseeing before the wedding. Overall it was a great day outside in Boise. We stayed at the Grove Hotel, a short walk to... More

The restoration of the Idaho Capital Building is first class. They matched the stone perfectly, the underground addition fits seamlessly with the original building. We visit capital buildings all across the US and this one is a stand-out. There are not many murals or paintings but the stone and architecture of the building can stand alone without them.

The Capitol sits on one end of the street, and the old Boise Depot sits on the other end, up a hill. So, when you cross Capitol Boulevard, you see one or the other depending which way you look. There is a small gift shop in the basement. There is a statue of Lincoln in front, and another statue of... More

When I was a little girl (a LOOOONG time ago) my grandfather was an electrician at the ID State Capitol building. I remember going down into the dark, musty basement. Recently the capitol was refurbished and there are now two large underground wings of meeting space that extend out the sides of the now bright and beautiful basement. As another... More
