My experience has been with larger zoos, including San Diego and Brookfield; visitors are often somewhat distanced from the animals. At ZooBoise I was amazed that I could stand at a window and a large lion could run straight at me (where else can you experience that) and brush up against the glass--we were about 3 inches apart. Face to... More

Zoo Boise is a fairly fun zoo in my opinion. There are a lot of attractions and it can take a good part of an afternoon to get around to see everything. The gift shop has a lot of fun toys, but watch out they are spendy!

We loved those crazy and wild Mangabey Monkeys! Never seen anything like them. They were a riot to watch them run, cartwheel, somersault and do sliding dives all around their pen. The juvenile and baby were hysterical to watch. We enjoyed nearly all the animal exhibits as they were awake, up and about and viewable. With many zoos, the animals... More

This was more of an animal prison than a zoo. The majority of the exhibits were empty. The few that had animals they looked sick and just laid there. I'm sure their fed a diet of cheap gmo food. It was like going to see a display at a taxidermy shop. Very sad.

This isn't a huge zoo, but kids can get really close to most animals, and there is a lot of hands-on for them. My son loved the African-bush landrover (Jeep?) that kids can get in. And the kids can get really close to the monkeys, etc. The snow leopard was great too.

The zoo is always fun! It seems like they have less animals then they did before, and the animals like to hide so you dont always get to see all of them. The park is also more dirty then I remember, but still always fun, and will knock 1-3 hours off your day depending on what you see and how... More

This is a small zoo right off the downtown area with a surprising variety of animals. There is a giraffe encounter where you can feed them lettuce which we did for $3 each person and a sloth encounter which we didn't have time for. I wish the enclosures for some of the animals were bigger and less cage like (like... More

We really enjoyed Boise and it pains me to give anything there a less than stellar review, but the zoo was just ok. Granted, we were there in February so lots of animals were indoors or not on display, but it didn't seem that it would have made a huge difference to go in Summer. It was clean enough, no... More

Not many animals, food selection was not varied and the bathrooms were gross. The penguins habitat was interesting. The zebras were interesting as well.

While a zoo rarely disappoints the young children, the Boise Zoo is likely to be a disappointment for most adults. It is a very small zoo and though the animals look to be very well tended there is nothing truly special about this small-city zoo in my humble opinion. The place could use an upgrade and an exhibit that is... More
