The land named Fort Yargo State Park was donated to the State of Georgia by a Great man named Mr Chris Maddox of Barrow County. The park is nice but you can see that this State Park as well as most Georgia State Parks has suffered a lot in most every area. This is due to the STATE GOVERNOR HIM... More

This park is near our home and we visit often. They have a variety of options to stay on site. The campsites are well kept and have all the amenities. The bath houses were kept clean and well stocked. The beach area is large and great for swimming. You can have electric motor boats on the lake. There are several... More

Lots of flat land, small lake, extreme bike trails, campgrounds good, bathrooms satisfactory. Rangers very friendly but park located near heart of downtown Winder. You do not feel you have really gotten away from it all. But you are close to many conveniences unlike other parks. Great for just a weekend get away, testing out camper after storing for winter or... More

what a great way to spend a couple of nights-yurting at Ft. Yargo. The 6 yurts sit on a scenic peninsula and all have a back deck hanging over the water. All yurts have electricity, ceiling fans and heat if needed. We've yurted at Ft. Yargo 10 times; as a couple, with other couples and with our children and grandchildren.... More

This is only our 2nd tent camping trip as a family and it was very memorable. The trails are awesome, my friends biked a lot. We were on campground 1, camp site 2 and our tent site was not far from the lake so we could walk to the water and only 1 camp site away from the restrooms/showers. We... More

We like to walk around the lake and on the trails. Its also fun to ride your bike. Its best to purchase a yearly pass if you plan on becoming a regular.

Fort Yargo is beautifully maintain State Park in Winder, Georgia. They have a swimming beach, several boat ramps, canoeing, camping, fishing, hiking, biking, etc. It is the most utilized of all the State Parks in Georgia. Great place to take your dog. Five dollar a day parking fee but a yearly pass is better because it serves all the parks... More

A large group of us rented yurts and one an rv spot. Bathroom facilities were kept clean. Yurts were also clean (can't say the same for Cloudland Canyon). Staff was nice. Enjoyed beach, swimming, canoeing, hiking, kayaking. Only suggestion is that the $10 canoe rental by the yurts should be good for the entire weekend and not just for the... More

My son and I had a great experience in Fort Yargo State park. We stayed in one of the six yurts. They are not air conditioned but they are very spacious and have a plenty of beds and room to move around. Each yurt has a lakefront view from the back patio. Wagons are provided to help you carry supplies... More

Great trails through the woods and over bridges (of which volunteers helped built). There is camping available (which I have enjoyed)....Fishing is available too. Plenty of space for group camping and easy to reserve shelters for reunions, meetings and more.
