All sites (electric/water only) seemed large enough for our 40fter and toad but some would have been difficult to level in. We took the only pull-thru on the lake, site #7, which we found was also the best site on the lake. A paved road with no sharp turns took us to the level, gravel site which was very and... More

Historic Fort Yargo blockhouse built in the 1790s is the focal point of this Georgia park, but it also has lovely paved walking and biking trails around the lake. The trails are marked every 50 feet or so with both printed and Braille descriptions of the local flora and fauna. There are many park benches along the trail, too. The... More

I spontaneously ended up at Fort Yargo State Park today after I took my 6 year old Reese to the Mayfield Dairy Farm Ice Cream tour 11 miles up the road from this State Park. The one thing I liked about this park was there was a lot of areas to explore. The trails were windy and hilly. Since I... More

My daughters ran Cross Country at this park for years. We have camped there, but they allowed too many AC units with electricity and tent camping was not pleasant. It a very good place to spend an afternoon or day outdoors.

I love to run the trails on Section B of the park. It's quiet and most of the trail runs by the lake. Beautiful scenery.

Loved it loved it loved it! We did the 7 mile around the lake hike with our dog. It's an easy trail, no ups and downs. Excellent fitness trail although we took our time on this last hike. Hiking this time of year is our preference. We were almost by ourselves although there were a number of campers. You can... More

Left my family shopping in nearby mall, and went alone exploring this big lake. I was impressed by it state of piece of mind and relaxation.

My site had a beautiful view of the lake. The hiking trails are very nice, too. The walk around the lake took about 2 hours, which was perfect. I'll definitely go back again!

My boyfriend and I decided to try exploring closer to home and stumbled upon Fort Yargo. First of all, you cannot beat the deal you get at the State Parks. For a low fee we were able to park and play miniature golf in beautiful surroundings. We did not realize there was a beach area or we would have brought... More
