Past Saturday went to this park to do a little hiking. We decided to do Wolfden trail. It is 6.7 miles long. It is a loop and pretty flat considering it is on the side of a mountain. We parked at mile 18 of the Pine Mt trail marker. We took the right hand trail going out. We met lots... More

As you walk or drive through FDR State Park, you know why he found this place so energizing. It is beautiful, serene and definitely close touch with nature. There are lakes and trails and adventures to be explored here. The State of Georgia is to be commended for preserving this area.

We took this trail for about 1 1/4 miles to the very first of 4 waterfalls. It was tiny, spilling into a pool, but it was an easy hike through the woods, and we enjoyed it. There are 3 more waterfalls if you hike another 1 1/2 miles or so, but we didn't have the time.

What a beautiful area. It's no wonder FDR spent many summers and winters here. The views are spectacular. There are areas to hike and grill. I posted pics. A must see even if just driving through. Spent a few minutes and enjoy the nature and beauty.

This a Georgia state park. The park has cabin rental, tent and RV camping. During the summer there is a week ( 7 day) minimum for cabin rentals. The information has some good exhibits .

Beautiful motorcycle roads here. Pull off areas are very few so take advantage when you see one if want to take photos. There are some trails to walk on ( did not ).

Nice wooded campsite. Very friendly staff, especially at the camp store. The pool is a 1.8 mile hike from the camping area. We stayed here to visit the historic places in the area. The town of Pine Mountain was really nice. Great places to eat and lots of nice shops.

FDR should be your go to in the Pine Mountain area if you like to camp. If tenting or RVing is not for you, rent one of the cool historic CCC cabins. The park provides everything but groceries in the cabins. You will find the cabins and the bath houses to be as clean as a whistle. Exceptions to that... More
