We visited Tybee Island last week. The beach was beautiful but there was a strong wind blowing and the dry sand stung our skin. We visited at low tide and pulled the kids out of the water after seeing a fin swimming near shore. A group of 6 adults next to us came over to warn our family that they... More

Went to South Tybee, the beach itself was very nice, we walked down from the pier as far as possible where there were fewer people. We didn't enjoy the pier/city at all and were really disappointed by the restaurant options then, we went to North Tybee. We found that nicer and even saw some dolphins, however after paying $4 to... We stayed right on the beach and enjoyed the restaurants, the pier and the ocean side aquarium. This is a very nice, clean and well maintained beach. Beautiful views, clean sand and warm water with ice cream just across the parking lot. Felt safe going out on the beach both day and night. Saw dolphins from our balcony!

We spent a weekday afternoon at Tybee Island beach and had a great time. It was 95 degrees out and the water was very warm and clear. The sand was clean and the area not crowded. The people were all very friendly and accommodating. We stopped in a local shop to get a beach bag and the sales clerk was... More

Also, don't forget the bug spray (doesn't really help though), the sunscreen and camping gear. Impromptu visits to this island really aren't the best unless you're prepared. Since you're looking here, you're more prepared than I was! :) Pay to park is EVERYWHERE! $2.00 in change for two hours or $4.00 credit card charge for 2hrs. The pay stations as... More

Came here to kayak after moving my daughter into college at Statesboro. The staff was very friendly at Northside kayak and gave me lots of tips on kayaking the area. I ran out of time and ended up going to the beach instead . There are plenty of places to park, just remember you have to pay to park or... More

Incredibly clean. No seaweed, algae, or garbage. Get a tide table. Loved coming out at early morning low tide to see what was left. One day after a storm lots of jelly fish. Another day horse shoe crab skeletons everywhere! Water was fabulous. Rent a beach umbrella worth it when that sun is beating down on you. Loved everything about... More

Loved the pier, the beach and the quaintness of the island. It is much smaller than a lot of beaches and it was nice to walk to everything, except for the restaurant where we had dinner .

Been having great August weather. Jellyfish warning flags have been up for 3 days so beware. Nice and windy out for a day or so as well sothat made for an excellent beach day. Not crowded and lots of friendly folk.
