At one (of many) visitor's centers in historic Savannah, we were told to drive out Bay Street to Tybee Island. So we did. It was 11 miles away and worth the drive. We found a quaint beach that had a built-in wooden swing where we sat and enjoyed the ocean and people on the beach. It is a step back... More

We went after labor day so it wasn't crowded and the water was great to swim in even though there was a flag about Jelly fish being in the area. We did see a big one and there were several people that had been stung but the lifeguards took care of them right away. It didn't keep us away from... More

This is one of the coolest little beach towns I have visited. The water is just ok kind of brown(Atlantic churn look), the beach itself is nice. The weekend we went was extremely busy but everyone was having a great time. Wonderful vibe.

This is like no other beach I have been to.Tybee is the move. The waves were on. I love it there and will always return here. There is a parking of $2.00 for 2 hours but it is worth it. While leaving I did see tickets on dashboards so please don't taint a god place and time, by not coming... More

We love to watch the sunrise and sunset as often as we can while we are on Tybee. It's only a few miles but it's a great walk along the beach from the north end all the way to the south end, the pier and pavillion. Peaceful and relaxing and more than worth the time to be there.

The town looks tired and past it's use by date but the beach is good. No surf but good for small kids to swim and plenty of flat white sand to stretch out on.

I live in SE Georgia and Tybee is the closest most convenient beach. The beach itself is decent. The water is not clear or blue like a resort but the beach is clean. The Savannah river empties here so there are occasional water/swimming quality warnings. I haven't been during a holiday so the crowds have been small (avoid the Orange... More
