Tybee is fun and funky - and the beach itself is long and broad and gentle, unlike some barrier islands. It's not as overbuilt as, say, Myrtle Beach, nor is it anything like Hilton Head, just north in South Carolina. If anything, it's more Key West. Folks are friendly, and accommodations on the island range from rooms for rent to... More

Very laid back. Always plenty of room to spread out your gear, very family friendly. Lots of shops close by if you forget anything or are looking for souvenirs. Good restaurants with awesome beach views. Enjoy going every time I visit Savannah.

We drove, because we stayed in Savannah, mid-town. It was not hard to find parking on a Sunday. The boardwalk from parking was in great shape, and the sand was super coarse. Bring flip-flops or suffer, between the heat and the coarse texture of the sand. The water was warm and took no getting used to. The Atlantic is saltier... More

Very nice beach. Tybee island itself is like a mini myrtle beach. Personally, not in to the heavily commercialized beach scene. If you're looking for something more upscale go to Hilton head.

If you live near Tybee Island this is a great beach to go to. If you live further away there are better beaches along the East Cost to venture too. I was really amazed at the amount of cigarette butts lying around the beach! They were everywhere like people just felt like the beach was a giant ash tray. There... More

Laid back beach town, great get-away. Visited over Memorial Day weekend, as did many other vacation seekers. The beaches were filled with families enjoying the start of summer. The pace was slow and relaxing.

Yeah there are signs that say no glass. But the sign is facing the beach and not facing the way you walk in. Me and the girlfriend are laying on the beach causing no problems, drinking a Corona. Cue beach patrol rolling through and giving us a ticket for having glass on the beach. We had a trash bag all... More

We were there the Saturday before Memorial Day. It had a huge crowd. This beach is good because it gets away with contradictions that other places don't. There is alcohol allowed on the beach if in a can or plastic. When I saw that I thought I would be witness to fights and general ruckuses. Not so... this was a... More

Great sandy beach. Plenty of lifeguards. Very clean. The pier is awesome with drinks, fishing and scenery.

This is a beautiful beach and during our visit in mid-May, it was not too crowded. We walked near the pier, ate at a local seafood place and did a bit of shopping. We may stay at Tybee next visit, explore more, and take some day trips into Savannah.
