One of the best gardens I've been to, the butterfly house is spectacular. The bird of prey show is worth waiting around for and don't skip the Mediterranean garden.

We spent two days seeing the Azaleas in bloom, walking the paths, watching the bird show, etc. The chapel was so serene. We didn't see many butterflies in the butterfly house so don't know if there is a better time where there are more butterflies or not. This was our first visit but we'll definitely will go back.

While on a long 10 day trip we happened on this place. I had wanted to see some gardens, butterflies, art museum and wild animals. We stopped here for the night and on the ground of Callaway there was a butterfly pavilion, a botanical area (greenhouse was opened that day to beautiful weather) and outdoor area, which we did not... I have been wanting to see Calloway Gardens for years. I finally had the time and opportunity to visit. What a peaceful and beautiful gardens. It did not dissappoint. I loved the butterfly building and strolling through the conservatory. Lucky for me there was a garden show going on! Hope to visit again soon.

It had been raining the night before our visit and there was some off and on rain while we were at the gardens. Fortunately, there is enough to do that the intermittent rain didn't dampen our spirits. Being a Sunday, an organist was playing in the chapel and that was lovely to hear wafting through the woods. Good visit!

There really is something for everyone in the family at Callaway Gardens. We love tennis. They have clay courts, a tennis pro, lessons, a ball machine, and will even set up matches for you. An unparalleled golf course, from what I am told. I don't golf. Fishing. Paddle boats. Hiking and biking is AMAZING!! You MUST see the Azalea Bowl... More

With beautiful weather we headed to Callaway Gardens for the day, we started at the Discovery Center for the Birds of Prey show.  We had an hour wait, so we looked at the artwork and walked around a bit, then settle in for the show.  We've seen several Birds of Prey shows and this was one of the best!  Great... Sounds like you had a great time. Yes, Spring had sprung by your visit. A few weeks earlier were stunning with Spring color. The crazy rain over the last few weeks really knocked a lot of color out of the hybrid azaleas. But, we are fortunate that the native azaleas continue to provide a great show - even through July.... Took a mini-vacation with friends specifically to view the azaleas in bloom - it appears that we missed the "best time," by a day or so. Regardless, we hiked some trails,, did get to see some of the flowers that were left, wonderful fresh mountain air, visited the chapel, and ate in some of the restaurants close by. A wonderful...
