Still a great place but getting too pricey to be family "friendly"

Went there for a day trip & to evaluate the layout for the 4th of July. We took our bikes because of the extensive bike trails. Very easy riding. They have bike rentals at the visitor center. There is a free bird of prey program. Previously we have been to the butterfly center. We bought ( $100 for nearby locals... More

Although the thousands of acres were "planted", many parts appear natural and are not manicured. My favorite building was the Sibley Horticultural Center, with the Butterfly house a close second. Ohhh and don't miss the Vegetable Garden. Nothing was blooming thus few visitors and the wonderful feeling that it was ALL Mine. I had a lovely conversation with Chris, a... More

We took the bus from the resort to tour the gardens and other sites around the hotel. The azaleas were pretty much played out. A few bushes were still blooming, but the vast majority were without any blooms. The surrounding woods, lakes, and grounds were very pretty and serene. Since the azalea trail was a bust, we opted to visit... More

Recently returned from a long weekend at Callaway, where I've been going for almost 20 years with my family. I would still recommend but a bit disappointment at the price point going so high. I used a Groupon, but if not, the stay for a 2BR cabin could have been as high as $700 a night. The cabin kitchen was... More

Liked: all the trees, bike path, walking paths, butterfly garden. Disliked: lack of good places to eat, nothing to do in the evenings after dinner.

We loved the gardens and enjoyed seeing every building and nook and cranny of it. I think it would be helpful to visitors to have a volunteer stationed in the chapel who can tell the history of it and explain about the pipe organ. We searched in the material given to us at check-in to find out more about it... More

I have been many times with my husband and family. There is something for all ages. The butterfly garden was amazing with butterflies landing directly on people. The fish in the Sibley Horticultural Center are a joy for young and old.

My husband and I, coming from Oregon, took my parents, who live in Alabama, to Callaway Gardens for the first week of May, 2015. The peacefulness and beauty of the gardens is beyond description. There is something for everyone here; from strolls on flat terrain to swimming to the Tree Top Adventure and much more. We can highly recommend renting... More

We went to Callaway over Mother's day weekend. We were there Friday. We had just missed the azaleas, but several things were blooming. not too crowded. Really nice. We tried the Tree Top Adventure...i normally would never try something like that. LOVED IT!!!! It wasn't as challenging as I had feared. The ziplines were a first for me...and won't be... More
