Open to one and all, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir was inaugurated in August of 2007 after only 17 months of construction time utilizing 1.3 Million volunteer hours. The Mandir is comprised of 3 types of stone (Turkish Limestone, Italian marble, and Indian pink sandstone). More than 34,000 individual pieces were carved by hand in India, shipped to the USA and assembled in Lilburn like a giant 3-D puzzle.

When I visited this place, I was stunned by its mesmerizing architecture and make. It would have been a mistake, if I would have missed this. It is apparently the biggest temple outside our country. The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir as they call it,was inaugurated in August 2007 after only 17 months of construction time utilizing 1.3 million volunteer hours.... More

Beautiful and holy. This amazing place is a feast for the eyes and can be a place to soothe the soul. It was built completely by volunteer service from Hindus from around the globe. Much was actually carved in India and shipped here to be put together like leggos - only this is beautiful to behold. It's the largest Hindu... More

Ive driven past the mandir hundreds of times, in fact, i remember the parade they had when it opened...but I had no idea that you could tour. A family member came in to town, he has been to India many times and loves the culture...so my Mom thought this would be a fun place to take him. We went on... More

Set in large area, the BAPS Sri Swaminarayan Mandir is easily accessible and is a splendid place to spend an evening immersed in spirituality. If you are not the overtly religious type, you can also spend time sitting in the sprawling lawns and admiring the gorgeous views. In the evening, the temple is lit up with colored lights and make... Nice architecture but very rude management staff, who impose upon visitors their "rules" rather than a welcoming experience.

Had a very pleasant experience and I would definitely recommend it to others. These kind of Indian constructions should be well promoted among the people from different origins.

This is a beautiful well planned temple. It was such a blessing that we were there as part of our anniversary. It was a very rainy day. The sight we saw driving in was stunning with marbles facade and carved work all around the temple. There is security entering and exiting temple. There is plenty of parking. Definitely get good... Five of us arrived on a Saturday at 11:00 a.m. At 11:15 a.m. we witnessed a short ceremony that should not be missed. Although we are not Hindu, we were invited to participate as much or as little as we felt comfortable. The staff was so helpful in guiding us and the Temple is beautiful. One lady in our group... I was honored to tour the Temple twice last week. I had been invited by a Hindu friend. We went to lunch and he took me on a personal and private tour. Regardless of your religion [I am an Episcopalian] this Temple is extremely impressive. I am told that there is not a single nail in the building. The stone... More

I was very surprised to find such a beautiful shrine in Atlanta. I've been in a similar one in India. You also have to go inside to see an amazing craftsmanship.
