Open to one and all, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir was inaugurated in August of 2007 after only 17 months of construction time utilizing 1.3 Million volunteer hours. The Mandir is comprised of 3 types of stone (Turkish Limestone, Italian marble, and Indian pink sandstone). More than 34,000 individual pieces were carved by hand in India, shipped to the USA and assembled in Lilburn like a giant 3-D puzzle.

I was honored to tour the Temple twice last week. I had been invited by a Hindu friend. We went to lunch and he took me on a personal and private tour. Regardless of your religion [I am an Episcopalian] this Temple is extremely impressive. I am told that there is not a single nail in the building. The stone... More

I was very surprised to find such a beautiful shrine in Atlanta. I've been in a similar one in India. You also have to go inside to see an amazing craftsmanship.

This is a magnificent destination spot to bring visitors! The marble of the temple was carved in India and assembled in Gwinnett County by Indian engineers and volunteers. It was built according to ancient architecture, there isn't a steel beam in the place. The grottoes are exquisite, be sure you visit when the monks open them. Call for the schedule.... More

I went this Temple in a Sunday morning. Not crowd at all. I had a baby and a toddler with me. Besides the fabulous building and garden, I love how everything has easy access. My toddler son enjoyed running around the garden.

I was pleasantly surprised to see this temple. At the entrance there is a gate where you give your name & they let you in. We went at 11 AM on a Wednesday so it wasn't crowded. Couldn't do any poojas for the same reason. The place was exceptionally clean & beautifully decorated. After our visit to Aksherdam in New... More

We are of the Christian faith but this was still an interesting place to visit. We have taken several out-of-town friends there too (one couple did not like it at all because of the beliefs). The architecture is amazing. Make sure to check their hours and allow plenty of time to visit.

This is a religious place (a Hindu temple), generally I don't review religious places. But if you would like to be in calm and peaceful places outside big city like Atlanta. You can go and visit this place regardless of your religious belief. You don't need to go to India to witness beautiful Indian architecture both outside and inside of... More
