Like many people, I didn't realize how dire the situation is for sea turtles, and how few safe breeding places are left to them. The Sea Turtle Center is small, situated in the historic district of Jekyll Island, with thee parts: the gift shop (all things turtle, reasonably priced - an important part of their fund-raising), a nice little interactive... We have visited the Sea Turtle Center four years and counting. The staff greets us like family and other staff members provide top shelf presentations informing about the various turtle patients so carefully tended there.

We visited just to see what it was about. Its more of a kids field trip destination. Very educational. My husband and I considered it a $14 donation to help rescue turtles and we are fine with that.

I stopped here while biking on Jekyll Island last month. After reading such great reviews, I was looking forward to seeing this turtle center. I checked out the museum first and found it to have interesting exhibits in an attractive building. I learned some new information about sea turtles such as the sex of turtle babies is determined by temperature.... More

This a place that is great for adults and children. It is both a sea turtle history and real time educational opportunity. With exhibits and films on sea turtles to enjoy there is also a viewing window through which you can witness live exams and treatments of sea turtles. Next to the main building is a building that contains several... More

Excellent learning center where you can learn about sea turtles, as well as some land turtles also. It is also a rehab center for injured turtles. You can learn a lot here.

We enjoyed our trip to the center. We loved see the turtles that needed care. It was enjoyable to learn about their laying of the eggs and hatching. Wish I could be here when the turtles come to lay their eggs.

Good for a quick visit; better if you have kids owing to the youth orientation of many displays. Be sure to visit the separate rehab building in the rear.

Everyone visiting Jekyll Island should visit this small museum and rehabilitation center. The exhibits are very well done and extremely informative with a realistic presentation of the environmental crisis facing sea turtles. The rehabilitation center is most impressive and a lot of good work is being done.

We spent a nice morning at the Sea Turtle Center, learning about their rescue and conservation efforts, and visiting with the hospital's turtle patients. On the day we were there the vets were doing surgery on a snake that had swallowed golf balls. (You can watch surgeries and treatments live through a viewing window, and also on a tv screen)....
