Pleasantly Surprised at it being Opened!

Before going to Helen, I had read a lot of reviews that said this place was closed and was for sale, so I didn't expect to see Charlemagne's Kingdom at all. However, the owner... read more

Very disappointing. There was a trash bag that had burst open in front of one of the doors, and bits and pieces of trash littering the ramp up to the doors. We had really been looking forward to visiting this neat place, but it appears that it is not being maintained, at all.

But I'm sorry to say that was not the case when we visited yesterday. We were looking for inside entertainment for our grandchildren on a cool rainy Saturday. I had read about Charlemagne's Kingdom so we decided to give it a try. The detail in the topography, the authentic German architecture, the mountains and hand painted figurines is a beautiful... You will be amazed at the huge model train display of a Bavarian German town and countryside. 100's of hours went into this working display and every time I see it, i see details i missed the first time. wonderful selection of popular, timeless and educational toys, as well as lots of Trains! Don't miss it !

Went with my husband and brother because my brother is fascinated with this stuff. I walked out in tears because not only was it an incredible experience, but the man who built this all has recently lost his wife, and has the place up for sale. I truly wish that we had the time and money to keep this going... More

Stopped in here for a short visit on a SAT. Beautiful model train exhibit, but no trains were running. Cost was a mere $4. I do not see how this place will stay open for business.

Before going to Helen, I had read a lot of reviews that said this place was closed and was for sale, so I didn't expect to see Charlemagne's Kingdom at all. However, the owner decided the Fourth of July was a great day to open, so we took our two year old to see the trains. He loved it! Unfortunately,... More

As we entered, we wondered was it still open. There was a real estate sign in the front. It is indeed open but I was saddened to learn that the papa running it will be closing due to lack of interest over the last few years. He had lots of toys on deep discount and even gave us a cheaper... More

The diorama was very interesting, but in ill repair. Many of the moving parts dont work anymore. The curator was a very friendly german man who has it up for sale so that he may retire.
