Pleasantly Surprised at it being Opened!

Stopped in here for a short visit on a SAT. Beautiful model train exhibit, but no trains were running. Cost was a mere $4. I do not see how this place will stay open for business.

Before going to Helen, I had read a lot of reviews that said this place was closed and was for sale, so I didn't expect to see Charlemagne's Kingdom at all. However, the owner decided the Fourth of July was a great day to open, so we took our two year old to see the trains. He loved it! Unfortunately,... More

As we entered, we wondered was it still open. There was a real estate sign in the front. It is indeed open but I was saddened to learn that the papa running it will be closing due to lack of interest over the last few years. He had lots of toys on deep discount and even gave us a cheaper... More

The diorama was very interesting, but in ill repair. Many of the moving parts dont work anymore. The curator was a very friendly german man who has it up for sale so that he may retire.

We made a quick stop here on our way out of town. The owner was very nice and gave us a discount on admission ($10 for the family). The train model is amazing. Also a nice gift store with cool German toys.

Tour is self guided so you can stay as little or long as you like. You first view everything from ground level then go up stairs. Cost $12 for 2 adults and 2 children. Amazing the amount of detail put in to the model. Train has stopped working but hot air ballons, lights, cranes etc still functioned. Well worth the... More

This exhibit is closed and for sale. It really needs to come off tour list of available attractions.

A little overpriced but a toy store and you can't bring kids in without buying something so of course we did. Very small thank goodness

This must have been quite an attraction years ago. Visiting with the owner (whose wife has recently passed away) and his little dog was the highlight. We did pay and view the model train set up. It was quite impressive although it no longer has running trains. We also purchased a few of the Melissa & Doug toys at a... More

We've been to Helen a couple of times, but this was our first visit to Charlemagne's Kingdom. I wish we had seen it in its heydey! The model railway was the owner's retirement project. Now that he's much older, he's selling the property and everything in it. I hope someone buys it and renovates it because it's a beautiful model... More
