Family fun

We had so much fun panning for gems. We got plenty of treasures to take home! Can't wait to break out the rock tumbler!

Building off previous reviews... we brought along 4 kids, ages 4, 5, 6 & 7 and they all had a great time here. They all picked up the process fairly quickly and it was just long enough to keep them interested without crossing the "this is boring" line. Buckets range from $11-20 (small buckets are good for about 20 minutes... More

I know it's corny, but we've been stopping here every time we come to Helen for the past 8 years or so. The owner is super nice and very helpful in identifying the 'treasures' you uncover. No, you won't reveal a rare 5 carat Ruby, but it's an inexpensive and fun way to spend some time with the family while... More

Took my 11 year old nephew and he loved it. He panned for gold and gems. Definitely touristy. The old man who ran it was very nice and helped out. Inexpensive. Fun for kids.

When you walk in, your going to be greeted by a gentleman with white hair. According to my little man, " That's Miner 49er". The thing that is really cool about this place is the fact that the kids are now on the same playing fields as their dads. Dads don't need instruction because we are, well, Dads. So miner... More

Though it's a kids' activity, we were excited to do it. Got a small bucket of gems and got dirty finding them. Great stones, the apache tear was the most interesting probably. Don't expect to find a nice restroom though, fyi

This was a recommendation by the hotel staff and the kids loved it. We got a $20 bucket filled with little treasures throughout. Our girls still take out their colorful rocks and crystals and admire them and the fun they had "panning" for them.

I am glad we did this. My kids had fun, but it was short fun. When you arrive, you choose which bucket to use. They are prefilled w sand and stones, gems, fossils, or whatever you choose. You then are sent to a water table with a shovel, a bag, and your bucket. The owner is very nice but too... More
