We stopped in for a little gem mining. Added fossils. The kids had a great time. Nice affordable buckets. We did the $11 small buckets and got several big stones. The kids got excited as they found each one. Then we tried the fossil bucket. Which was cool. They found teeth and shells and other cool items.

This gem mining was so much fun, and the gentleman running it is friendly. If you are looking for something leisurely to do this is the place for you! We are going to take our family back. We enjoyed browsing his store and looking at the beautiful items.

This was probably the most fun we had from our weekend in Helen! ''Panning'' for gems and fossils put my son over the moon! We had quite a collection of truly beautiful stones/gems and shark teeth! The owner was very helpful and if you talk to him about it you can see how much he enjoys mining for these little... More

The kids loved it. Panning for gold is hard and takes forever but Dale is fantastic and will help you. My son loved the piece of jasper he found and my daughter loved the size of the gems. No pressure to buy and they have a price point for all.

My 9 year old loved this experience. Staff was great. Explained options and answered all of our questions. We were in and out in an hour. I felt it was a little expensive.

While I would like to see more variety in the buckets available and gem selection, this would be a good activity for small children. The waterways were really full of "washed dirt" and it would have been nice to have water running through instead of just washing the box in muddy water. However, it is a good way to entertain... Part of a fun day celebrating a birthday with five 10 year old girls! The kids loved it! Only our daughter had been gem mining before so it was a new experience for the other girls and they were crazy about it! We bought a family bucket for $50 and it allowed each girl to have about a beach bucket... More

We took my grandson here today to pan for "treasures" and loved it! The gentleman working there really made it a great experience for him by showing him how to pan, and then helping him hammer open a geode. Even my 9 month old granddaughter was fascinated by the whole thing and she was just sitting on my lap watching!... More

Dukes has a new place just across from the put-put on the south side of town. We started there and met Dukes son. He was a nice young man and was very knowledgeable about the different gems. My kids fully enjoyed the experience. We've been to one of these places in the Smokies (not owned by the same person) and... More

Great fun for the kids. We got a $50 family bucket, and were pleasantly surprised by not only the number of gems, but their size and variety as well.
