Love to fly fish the Hooch. And the area around Helen is fantastic for fly fishing this time of year.

It just does not get better than the view and sounds of the river as it flows past . Relaxing and a chance to decompress . Just great place to enjoy the moment.

The oldest river in the south flows down from the highest point in GA. The town of Helen is built on the river, and in the summer there is tubing, very popular with tourists. Apparently the fishing is also very good, as there are many fishermen along the river. Have a meal at one of the riverside restaurants in town... More

The river is nice and cold, but the trout are big and plentiful. I caught 2 nice ones for dinner. It is also very peaceful and calm.

Lots of rushing water and great sounds. The kids had a blast walking in the water and exploring. The water always looks clean and crisp.

We have spent plenty of days on the Chattahoochee River. My kids love being in the water and the river offers so much for us to do. You can whitewater raft, tube, kayak, fish, so many things, we never get bored. The Chattahoochee boasts beautiful trout and Helen has a tournament every year. I would strongly encourage anyone who loves... More

It runs swiftly then slowly. It is narrow so one is shaded by mature trees. Very very cold water. You can embark fro the center of Helen. Afterwards get a sausage and a beer nearby

I wish it could stay as clean and clear all the way through Atlanta. Riverfront hotels are fun to throw a ball into the water for your dog while you sit in comfort on your patio out of the rain!
