We went to Amicalola Falls in the morning, and it was perfect. Very few visitors, plus it was nice and cool! Unlike other waterfalls, here you start at the top and work your way down (425 steps down). It was absolutely worth it! more

My wife and I and two Shih Tzus spent three nights in the small campground in this beautiful state park. Except for the thunderstorms and power outage for a few hours we had a good time. There are only about 24 campsites but we liked that part. Great hiking, beautiful falls and generally peaceful woods. Warning: not much of a... more

We visited Amicalola Falls in November. We had a great hike from the Visitor's Center up to the falls. There were many stairs, so it's a good workout. After enjoying the views from the top of the falls we hiked down on the opposite side of the river. On this portion of the hike we had better views down into... more

What Fall Creek Falls is to Tennessee, Amicalola Falls is to Georgia. Where the former is gorges (Cumberland Plateau), the latter is the southern tip of the Appalachian Mountains. Aside from the falls, the SP is known widely for its access trail to the southern entrance of the AT. From the entrance, you would never have known there was even... more

I had the opportunity to take a business associate to eat at the buffet. Talk about horrible. I don't even think that is the correct term to use. We arrived at 11:15 and the restaurant was not even open no one greeted us and explained to us that they did not open until 11:30. There was not a sign posted.... more

My husband and I were looking for a break from the heat of August in Atlanta. We decided to visit this park and stay overnight in the lodge. We were very glad we made this choice. The view from the lodge and rooms is wonderful. The lodge is in great shape and our room was very clean, nothing particularly fancy,... more

I visited this park for the first time while visiting at my grandfather's house near Ellijay, and it turned out to be a great day-trip. There is a negligible $3 parking fee upon entrance. The visitor's center has several nature displays with stuffed wildlife, as well as some live snakes and darters. Here is where to get a souvenir, like... more
