We had a wonderful time visiting the Consolidated Gold Mine, it was an amazing and fun tour through the mine. Once the tour is over, you have the opportunity to mine for gold and/or gems. An overall fun experience.

Our recent travels took us to Consolidated Gold Mine in Dahlonega, GA and we are SO glad we stopped in! There was something for all of us here. We especially liked our tour guide, "Precious". I highly recommend this for any family traveling through this part of Georgia. We ALL had a blast. The tour was informational as well as... More

Great tour into a mine which actually does still have gold in it! Precious, our tour guide did a great job answering all of our questions and entertaining us. The panning for gold after our tour was interesting, the gem stone buckets I think would be cool but we opted not to do this as it was late in the... More

Unlike virtually all tourist attractions in Georgia, Consolidated does not offer a U.S. military discount or free admission. For example, the World of Coke in Atlanta admits all U.S. military personnel for free. Shame on Consolidated for not recognizing U.S. military personnel. That being said, this is a fun place to visit, for the reasonable price of $16 per person.... More

We had JD as a tour guide he was nice and funny. The walking tour is very interesting. I would not recommend flip flops for this tour. You are walking down rock paths and metal stairs and there is a little water and the had rails are wet. Not a good idea if you have trouble with steps or some... More

Both kids and adults thoroughly enjoyed the experience- from tour to learning how to gold mine! Guides and facilities were great. We weren't too sure at first if we wanted to make it part of vacation itinerary but ended up loving it!

We stayed in the area on our anniversary, mainly to unplug and get away from civilization. It was a wonderful get away and located out in the middle of nowhere. We found this little place and it was such a treat! My husband got to pan for gold and gems and they have a wonderful little gift store and offer... More

Take a guided tour through the first discovery of Gold in the United States. First start out by doing a little panning your self. There is a little fee for this but it gives you an idea of how they panned for gold back in the day. Very educational and the kids will enjoy it.

We had a great time on this visit. You start out learning to pan and then you actually get to pan for some real gold. After that you take a 40 minute your into the actual mine. Very informative and well done. A must do.

Originally, I was just looking forward to panning for gold for the very first time in my life. However, I actually found the tour to be much better than I expected and very educational. Those boys worked so hard back in the day...... for a dollar! We also chose to gem mine and I probably wouldn't do that again. I... More
