We just returned from a trip to Fort Mountain State Park for Easter. We had a group of nine; two families with a total of 5 kids. We stayed together in Cottage #13, which is a 3 bedroom newly renovated cottage. It was lovely!! Our whole experience at this state park was very positive. Here are a few highlights: THE... More

Stayed here for a week during spring break. This was a nice campground with lots of hiking trails. There are two camping loops. Loop 2 on the left was very hard for us to maneuver with our travel trailer. Loop 1 was better. We camped in site 1 and it was long and level side to side but needed plenty... More

Again this wasnt a planned stop much like my other quick stops at Ga state parks. The trails are nice good for people who have pets and there is lake and playground area if you have kids. The only that I would say is taking caution while driving up the mountain. The road is very curvy and narrow and gets... More

Living near Fort Mt. my wife and I have never there. It was really nice. There is a camp ground and beach as well as the rock wall no one knows how it got there. As always the Rangers are nice. There is a small fee to enter the park. If you live in the north Ga. Or southern Tennessee... More

We enjoy cooking breakfast and having a fire in the fireplace close to the lookout area. Also great hiking trails!!! Kids enjoy swimming and fishing.

I visited recently with friends. We enjoyed the hike to the CCC-built fire tower - even if the tower wasn't accessible because of repair work. The mysterious rock wall is very interesting. It was fun to speculate who built the wall and why. And of course, the fall color was beautiful! I'll definitely be back.

This state park is near my home. I've been going here for most of my life. The park has a small lake that is perfect for lazy fishing, swimming and kayaking. There is a walking trail around the lake as well as several other hiking trails throughout the park. There are plenty of picnic areas, a good play area for... More

The area is so beautiful and peaceful. My family loves the overlook as well. The swimming area is a great family fun adventure.

Lots of hiking options (short to long, mountain to lake), great scenery and the mystery of the stone walls. A must see State Park in Georgia!

We came here for a day visit in September 2014. There is so much to do here! Hiking trails, putt-putt, a nice swimming area, picnic area, and a fishing lake. I definitely recommend the hike to the old stone fire tower and rock wall. The hike is not too strenuous and the views are amazing. Pack a picnic and spend... More
