Recently visited Fort Mountain with my wife. The park is well laid out, with paved roads leading throughout. Ample parking and restroom facilities were available. We hiked up the trail leading to the lookout area. The trail was quite rocky at times and moderately strenuous. The views are absolutely stunning, and well worth the hike. During our visit, the stone... More

Our family has been visiting Ft Mountain and staying in the cabins for the last 15+ years. They have completely replaced cabins 6-15 on the top loop, which is where we normally stay. They've done a nice job with the new cabins, but there are some issues: 1) Absolutely no closets, and very few hooks on which to hang clothes.... More

We camp here and also visit for the day. There are nice hiking trails, a beautiful lake for fishing, paddle boats and a clean beach for swimming. Campground is always quiet and clean. We have seen bears several times so keep food secure and trash in locked receptacles. Great private area for group camping too.

It's so beautiful up there! We hiked up to the stone tower up top, but couldn't see anything due to the trees being grown out - which I imagine isn't a problem in any other season. We then continued to the overlook, and the views are breathtaking! Let me first say that the hiking trail is a little rocky, and... More

We had a family reunion at Fort Mountain State Park and reserved cottages 11-15. They were perfect. Tons of space for the kids to run around, we had a campfire in the fire pit every night and the cottages were very clean and comfortable. We had a miniature golf tournament, rented paddle boats, went on hikes and swam in the... More

The park is beautifully maintained, hiking trails are excellent, beach is perfect size and park is overall fantastic. It's the cabins that blew me away. There are several that have been remodeled and they are A for ADORABLE! They put some real thought into the comfort and design of the cabin. Very updated and new. Not all the cabins are... More

The drive (or ride on two wheels) is hard to beat just to get to this park. I personally think that Highway 52 up and over Fort Mountain is a great ride by itself and the park is a bonus! Nice trails to hike with some small waterfalls, all worth the effort if you enjoy waterfalls and walking/hiking. The views... More

Recently went back for a second visit with a young family who were looking for some easy trails and great views while hiking. I don't think they were disappointed. The drive west is great with some nice scenic overlooks and a few curves adding to the drive. There are plenty of hiking options for all abilities. The hike to the... More

We just returned from a trip to Fort Mountain State Park for Easter. We had a group of nine; two families with a total of 5 kids. We stayed together in Cottage #13, which is a 3 bedroom newly renovated cottage. It was lovely!! Our whole experience at this state park was very positive. Here are a few highlights: THE... More

Stayed here for a week during spring break. This was a nice campground with lots of hiking trails. There are two camping loops. Loop 2 on the left was very hard for us to maneuver with our travel trailer. Loop 1 was better. We camped in site 1 and it was long and level side to side but needed plenty... More
