I love this State Park. There are really nice trails several which lead to viewing areas with that overlook the mountain range or the city of Chatsworth. You can swim in the lake on top of the mountain but the water is usually a little chilly or you can rent a paddle boat in summer. There are campgrounds and picnic... More

Spent Labor Day weekend at the state park and used the campground and enjoyed the lake and surrounding area. The campground is well appointed- we had site 50 which was level and spacious and private. Clean restrooms and showers. Campground also has cable hook up. The only word of caution is that not all the sites are equal in size... More

I volunteer with the local 4H group and once a year we go up to clean up campsites and pick up trash. It's very relaxing with a trail around the spring fed lake and a sandy beach swimming area. They have cabins as well as campsites and a naturalist to do hikes on the many mountain trails.

Great park! BUT GA State Parks needs to get w/ it n let people reserve actual sites so people can guarantee that they can get sites beside friends/family... Swimming section needs to be enlarged. It was packed in the water n on the beach. Good news: nicest restrooms, nice trails, and Ranger Bob tours! The Stone Wall is very interesting!... More

We love Fort Mountain State Park, and have enjoyed many visits and hikes here over the decades. Due to injuries, we stick to the easier hikes now. Having a keen interest in Native American artifacts and rituals, we are fascinated by the 855 foot long wall at the top of the mountain. It is believed to have been used either... More

We took our little RV to Fort Mtn mid-May. We got a spot on the trail around the lake. The camp store is too far away to walk to or even bike to if you're just a leisurely biker, but the store is great - super selection of items from cookbooks to necessities to apparel and hats, etc. The park... The staff in this park seems to be more down to earth and freindly than some of the other state parks. They have done a great job of keeping the park in good condition considering all the cut-backs with state funding. All trails were well marked. The views from several locations including the overlook were fantastic! Campgrounds were in great... More

We enjoyed our 4 day camping trip so much. They have lots of supervised activities for children, which means Mom and Dad get to relax a little. The trails are very well maintained, but you should still watch out for snakes. LOL!! We found one by accident and he wasn't happy about being bothered. The bathhouses are clean. They even... More
