Description: This popular park on Lake Allatoona is ideal for swimming, water skiing...
This popular park on Lake Allatoona is ideal for swimming, water skiing and fishing. Visitors can bring their own boats or rent from nearby marinas. A sand swimming beach is nestled in a cove and surrounded by trees, providing a great place to cool off during summer. Picnic shelters and group shelters may be rented for meetings, parties, reunions and other celebrations. Guests often stay overnight in rental cottages, a spacious campground or the park’s lakeside yurt. While best known for the 12,000-acre lake, Red Top Mountain is also a hiker’s haven. More than 15 miles of trails wind through the forested park, providing opportunities for exercise and nature photography. A short, paved trail behind the park office is suitable for wheelchairs and strollers, welcoming guests to explore a reconstructed 1860s homestead. The gravel-topped 4-mile Iron Hill Trail is open to both hikers and bikers, offering pretty views of the lake’s shoreline.Named for the soil’s rich red color caused by high iron-ore content, Red Top Mountain was once an important mining area. Iron pour programs are occasionally held near the Vaughn Cabin behind the park office.

A winding road takes you to a panoramic vista over a long bridge and a pristeen lakeshore. Just up the road is a marina, rental cabins with all the amenities, campsites, fishing, boating, and a spectacular restaurant in the Lodge.Watch for the occasional tame deer to greet you as you pass by. Top notch for a relaxing vacation.

We camped in one of the 2 bedroom/ 2 bath cottages with my 2 young granddaughters and of course mom and dad. The cottage had 2 beds in each bedroom, large living room, kitchen, front porch, large back porch, fire pit, charcoal grill and picnic table. It was fully stocked with linens, towels, pots and pans, dishes and soap. Bring... More

This was our first time at this park. I wish I was more prepared so we could have enjoyed it more. I didn't realize what all they had there for families to do. (Guess I should have read TripAdvisor before going. I read it on the way there. Lol) The park is very clean and nature friendly. The workers and... More

My husband and I visited Red Top Mountain for two nights in July 2015. We stayed at the campsite for tents only, which is a really good place for families and novice campers (like ourselves). The campsites were well maintained, even though it was completely full it was still nice to get away and at night you still felt like... More

Went to camp but the camps were very close together so we looked around and enjoyed the day. The Park officials were very nice and the day was enjoyable.

Lovely place to enjoy nature at its best, beach is nice for hot days in Georgia with no commercial real estate blocking your view.

Great place. We rent the picnic shelter and have our family reunion. The only downside is no running water or electricity at the pavilions. We have to run drop cords from the bathroom area to have fans in the heat. Otherwise it's perfect. They rent boats and cabins and have a lodge and restaurant. Truly love this place!

I have visited this place every year for past 7 years and will continue doing so. It is very relaxing and excellent for family. No loud noise or party people. Lots of benches and shades.

We picked the kids up from camp nearby and wanted to spend the weekend with the entire family. This was the first overnite trip for the family in years. I must say, these were the nicest cabins we've ever stayed at in any state park. We had a nice lake view of the marina. There was a picnic table, along... More
