Our family has been out on two trips with Fred Mazza and we have had tons of fun finding all sorts of fossils. Fred does a great job working with the kids (and adults) and makes the day a fun learning experience. Compared to the big theme parks you cannot go wrong spending the day on the river with Fred... My daughter (age 8) and I flew to Florida for the sole purpose of going on a fossil dig. We had looked forward to this trip for months and it was everything we could have asked for and more! We found a great variety of fossils. We found lots of various shark teeth, whale teeth, dolphin ear bones and vertebra,... More

Been going out with Fred Mazza on fossil tours since 2008 sometimes 4-5 times a year. Each time out is a new adventure holding the possibility of that big find every time I put a shovel in the gravel and sift for the elusive Megalodon tooth. Fred has taught me so much and has shown a passion for fossils that... More

We've been out with Fred a few times and every time has been an adventure! He will put you on spots where you'll find everything from Megalodon sharks teeth to giant armidillo scutes. This trip is great for folks who have always wanted to hunt for fossils but weren't sure where to go or how to do it. Fred is... More

I've been on 3 trips! All were amazing, informational and full of discovery. On my very first trip last year I fulfilled one of my childhood dreams of finding a Megladon tooth. I actually found 8 that day. I've been with groups of strangers and with my friends on the trips. All great fun. Fred is a great guide and... More

I am a middle school Earth and Space Science teacher, and I have taken my students fossil hunting on the Peace River with Fred Mazza six times. Each time we go, my students love the adventure and learn so much from Fred. He is knowledgeable about the area and can identify all of the many fossils we find. Fred works... More

I was looking for something different to do and came upon Fed's website. I watched the video and I was hooked. I showed it to my husband, who was skeptical, but consented. We took our 9 year old with us. The whole day was an adventure! I'm not a river and canoe kinda girl, but it was great. When we... More

I went on a tour w Paleo Discoveries for the first time in July, and it was a great experience! Fred is friendly and fun, and he really knows his fossils. I loved the outing, and I plan to go back every summer!

My husband and I went a couple years ago, and LOVED IT! We had so much fun, time just flew by. Skipped lunch because each shovelful revealed new fossil finds, and didn't want to waste time eating. Scenery was beautiful, and the river was moving slowly enough that it wouldn't be intimidating for children. Didn't see any gaters, and came... More
