Great little watering hole

The bartenders at "Smugs" are great! Anthony and Keith make the best damn martinis in the world (been there done that). Sitting outside on a hot summer night is fun as the familiar people come and go. inside is a slightly smokey typical Florida bar with a friendly atmosphere. There are some games and the music is always on. But... More

This is a smokers paradise. If you want to save money on cigarettes, this is the place for you. It's so smokey, you can get your nicotine fix just by sitting in the place. I challenge you to find a smokier bar.

This place is a very mixed crowd where pretty much all are welcome. The beer is cold and the drinks are good. The only complaint is it can get a little smokey, but there is an outside place to sit if that is not your thing. If you want to drink three or so beers and live on the island,... More

I have lived in Tierra Verde for 20 years and have watched this once excellent bar decline and go down hill year on year. The staff, particularily one called Sandy would appear to be constantly drugged to the eyeballs, maybe just drunk but never the less, so rude and unpleasant that I just never want to never step foot in... We stopped by this place every night while camping at Desoto Park. Prices were the best around and people there and staff were very welcoming. We even watched the ball drop here. Place is nothing special but is large enough, decent jukebox, and bartenders were all great to us. We cycled in and had a fun time with each visit.Many... More

I havent been there for some time now But I am finally here to let you know that the staff is 2nd to none. All of the employees were the best and reccomended the best shots in the world. Great place to hang out. I met a bunch of employees from the restaurant next door called Billys. I remember saying... More

What once was "Cheers" is now over priced and wants to cater to the "elite". It is a tavern, nothing more or nothing less. The help is mostly unfriendly, slow, and spends most of their time visiting and sitting with the regulars. They do not appear to want the early crowd, and most of the "old timers" have gone elsewhere... More

I was recently in Tierra verde on vacation with a bunch of friends and we stumbled upon this bar. As soon as we got to the bar they treated us like we had been coming in there forever. The service was great and the bartenders were awesome. They knew how to help a bunch of us college kids have a... More

They have raised the prices so high, many of us have found new place to hang out. Get real, there is no view of the water and rarely do they have live entertainment, yet the want as much as the upper end bars. It's not like it used to be and it certainly can not be called a local hang... More

If you are visiting beautiful Tierra Verde Island or St. Pete Beach, spend your money anywhere but this smokey hole in the wall. Riddled with only old local alcoholic chain smokers, the staff (Other than the one lone female night bartender, Sandy, who rarely works) are arrogant and rude. The prices are as high as bars right on the beautiful... More
