My husband dove Friday, and witnessed the "Creature Feature," where the Dive Master feeds the local Moray eels and sometimes the nurse sharks. He enjoyed it immensely. The following day I dove with my 13-year-old daughter. Sky, Captain Slate's daughter who was driving the boat, knowing we are relatively new to diving, has a very sweet demeanor and made sure... My friend Mike & I (Bondo) came down to dive w/ Capt. Slates dive adventures and it was awesome! Mike's dove with Slates before but this was my first time. I had a blast. The Capt., and his check in crew were very nice and joked with us, very friendly! Had the pleasure of meeting Capt Sky, Capt. Slates daughter... More

My husband booked this tour because it was advertised as an experience for family scuba diving and snorkeling on his birthday. We were 4 divers and 2 snorkelers. The boat was small and old. The guy who drove the boat was a cranky older man with little or no patience for our boys, 13, 16, and 18 and none for... More

I purchased a Groupon for a snorkel trip at Captain Slate's on our vacation in the Keys. Called the first day we arrived to book a trip, and they had no openings for the entire week. I made the mistake of saying I had a Groupon at the beginning of the call. Call me skeptical, but I bet there would... More

My wife and I went on a snorkel trip with our two teen aged kids. We did the two site trip. It really turned out to be the same reef just two different spots on "hens and chickens reef" I am a diver and maybe a little spoiled but it didn't feel like the effort from the captain was there... More

DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GROUP. We booked a two stop snorkeling trip with our 4 kids. As we left the dock we noticed that we were the only boat on the water. We arrived to our location and still - no other boats in sight. Waves 6-7 feet high. Over half of the people on-board were throwing up, 18 out... More

I went to Captain Slates with my friend and a few other people from my scuba class and we got to know the entire crew on a very personal level. Our crew was Captain Slate and his son Hunter (Who is just the sweetest young man!) along with three dive masters. The water was absolutely gorgeous! and the entire crew... More

My husband and I have been diving with Captain Slate since 2004. We decided to celebrate our 20th anniversary with an escape from Tennessee's cold weather and dive on Jan. 30. We had the privilege of having Captain Slate and his son Hunter as our hosts! The dive was absolutely beautiful! It was wonderful to be in the Keys and... More

Capt Slate runs a top notch dive boat charter for scuba divers. You can witness excellent boat navigation as the captain maneuvers the boat into the slip from a confined area. The crew on the boats have always been knowledgable and helpful. I once got separated from the boat while diving in rough seas (through no fault of theirs), and... More

This is such a rip off. He guy showed up 1 hour late. The attitude of the staff was oh well that is how it it. The creature feature is not what is advertised. He could not even find the eel.. we did!
