This museum is part of St. Petersburg College. There is free parking right by the museum - which is marked well so you can find it on the campus. They had various exhibits on display when we were there. I especially liked the high school at that was depicting familiar sayings. The museum is mostly contemporary art.

Really nice collection in a beautiful space. We went on a Sunday, very quiet. There is a docent tour at 2 but we browsed on our own. Nice to learn about Leepa and Rattner and their works. Beautiful display of dance photos! We will go back for the rotation display when it opens. There are nice spaces to sit and reflect. There is also a nice outdoor space overlooking a fountain and pond. Highly recommend this hidden gem in north Palm Harbor-Tarpon.

Very enjoyable way to spend an hour or so. Depends on how much time you want to look at the art. The museum has some interesting pieces and ranges from paintings to sculptures to hand blown glass. Make sure you ask about the discounts. The have quite a few including ex-military being free.

Off the beaten track, the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art on the St. Pete College campus in Clearwater is definitely worth a visit. First of all, they offer free admission to holders of certain area museum membership cards (e.g. St. Pete's Museum of Fine Arts). In addition to the permanent collection of striking art-works (it was the first time that I saw a reproduction of Picasso's Guernica in situ!), there is always a special exhibition in a side gallery. The staff are helpful and welcoming! Perfect respite on a hot summer's day in Florida.

We loved the highlight of the museum, the only exact replica of Picasso's famous Guernica. There is a narrated explanation of the painting and it lights up from behind during the explanation. The staff is very knowledgeable and willing to explain things. Great stop for home schoolers! Don't miss this gem!

The museum is on the St. Petersburg College campus. Although small, the museum has spectacular displays of artists from or relocated to Florida. Our docent, Joann, did a wonderful job of providing an overview of each artist. On Sundays, admission is a contribution of your choice.

We made the trip from the Orlando area specifically for this museum. Very nice building with an excellent collection. It's on the campus of St Petersburg College and is easy to find. Our visit was the Sunday after Thanksgiving so the campus was empty. The docent, Nancy, led an informative and enthusiastic tour. Highly recommend!!

This was our first time here but not our last. Very impressed with the exhibits and the great Docent, Lyn who told of the story behind so many items displayed. Exhibits change on a regular basis so you will see things not shown before.

Our Docent was Larry. He kept the 20 of us very entertained by telling short stories about each of the pieces of art painted by Abraham Rattner, Esther Gentle and Allen Leepa. Rattner painted reactions to many of the events of the 20th century. His wife, Esther Gentle was a printmaker, sculptor and painter and her son, Allen Leepa, was an abstract expressionist painter and author. A very interesting 2 hours if you like art and museums. Other non-permanent displays were also available for your viewing and educational entertainment.

We had read some articles describing the interesting exhibits at the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art and decided to take a day trip to see it. Wow, was it ever worth the drive! Great exhibits by local and internationally known artists plus learning about the namesakes of the museum made this visit very entertaining. I think we spent between 2 and 3 hours there but we do tend to spend time on the artwork that interests us, which was a lot. Plus the downtown area of Tarpon Springs is nice with quirky shops and great restaurants.

Is this something children would enjoy
Lilian N
Palm Harbor, FL7 contributions
While the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art is geared more for adults, as are most art museums, it does have an interactive gallery which is great for kids to express their creativity. In addition, it features art classes for kids and a Leap into Art program on the third Wednesday of every month, which includes stories and related crafts. A child is never too young to be exposed to art! Visit the LRMA website for programs and to see what kind of exhibitions are on view.
