Several boat tours in Tarpon Springs which is a fun town with Greek and sponge diving history, good shopping and great Greek restaurants. We chose this cruise because it was short-40 minutes-and it was interesting to learn about the heavy dive suits the divers wear and to see the diving demonstrated. There's lots more to see plus a pretty Greek... More

I have taken this tour a couple of times. I would not repeat the experience if it was not enjoyable. What I like about this is that it is a short cruise- about 40 mins, and the staff are personable and make the cruise enjoyable for all. The cruise is informative and inexpensive.

It felt like we were hardly out of the harbor and the diver goes down for a very short time, brings up one sponge and then we are back at the dock in less than 10 minutes. Narrative is interesting, boat is authentic, watching diver suit up is educational. Almost feels like it's all theatrical. Cost is only $8.

Just another boat tour. There are quite a few boat tours along the coast. This one is really not much different. If you are looking to go out on the water and learn a bit of history on the area then definitely worth a try.

Just happened that we were across from the dock about 20 minutes before next departure so the four of us bought tickets for $8.00 each. We boarded the old yet comfortably seaworthy boat with about 20 others and were off. We chugged along the working harbour to the mouth of the river as the captain navigated and gave us a... More

I read another comment that this was a touristy thing . Well of course it is. It is a fun little ride at a good price for what it is. The crew are usually members of the local Greek sponging community. You get to hear the history of how sponge fishing came to Tarpon Springs. At one point they put... More

On a busy Sunday afternoon around 2:30PM , ten of us (5 adults and 5 children, mostly elementary age and one teen) had tried to get on one of the longer boat tours, to no avail, so we kept walking along the sponge docks until we were pulled in by the friendly ticket booth lady at St. Nicholas. The boat... More

Reasonably priced and the grandkids really enjoyed the experience. We learned about the history of the sponge docks and how sponges are harvested from the ocean.Frank (the diver) was very personable and even posed for pictures. He then dove for a sponge which we all got to touch. Cost for our family--2 adults, 2 seniors, and 2 children was $35

The crew of the sponge ship was helpful, informative and made learning about the history of sponge diving in Tarpon Springs enjoyable. Cruise was short enough to take kids on, priced very reasonably and if you get there for the first cruise (ours left at around 11:30am on a Sunday, you get to see the diver put on his suit,... More
