Cost about $30 to take the family on a very short boat ride away from the docks (not into the gulf, nor anywhere even close) to watch a diver go overboard in an old timey diving suit. The diver was friendly and informative, it was a neat demonstration, and I'm glad to have done it...but I don't think we'll do... More

This short boat tour gives you a glimpse into the Sponge Capital of the World and the Greek sponge diving trade of old - on the way out you'll pass a fleet of tirhandils, traditional Greek boats for sponge divers. The Captain is informative about the various types of sponges and the sponge industry. The hard hat diver is very... More

Considered the larger boat but glad we chose this shorter trip with the diver demonstration. Perfect

Jumped on the last boat of the day on a whim with our 12 yr old grandson. Frank, the diver, was very informative and friendly. Learned some interesting facts regarding sponge diving and the industry....very pleasant experience.

Great deal for our money. My husband and I paid $8 each, and our boys were free. The trip was short, but very informative. My sons, 9 & 6, enjoyed watching the diver suit up and harvest a sponge. The diver posed for pictures with everyone that stopped him. They do offer a stack of postcards, and at $1 we... More

30-40 minute boat ride where we got to see a real diver in an old fashioned diving suit dive for sponges. He shared the history, types of sponges etc. We got to take pictures with the diver and feel a live sponge. fun & informative and a definite must do!

As noted in several reviews....a very inexpensive and timely way (45 minutes) to learn about the history of sponging in Tarpon Springs. We sat in the front of the boat and spoke with the diver (Frank) for several minutes during the boat ride. He was very personable and great with the kids who were on the boat. Tips were appreciated... More

This was a great short (45) min. excursion for $8 per person. Very informative and friendly staff. Watching the diver in the suit was interesting! I would recommend this for everyone who visits Tarpon Springs for the first time.

Great little boat ride, and you can't beat the price. $8 per person, you learn all about the history of Tarpon Springs as the sponge capital of the world, hear what the life of a sponge diver is like, and during the trip a diver does a live demonstration in a vintage diving suit. Entertaining and informative.

After reading the good reviews we expected a lot more from this experience. It was essentially a waste of our time and money. They did not hardly leave the docks and you could see the "divers" head because he was barely under the water. The whole place was run down and a tourist trap, we will not return to tarpon... More
