Lettuce Lake Park opened in 1982 and quickly became a hub of activities. The 240-acre site offers something for everyone. Wooded picnic areas and a playground are family favorites. A 1.25 mile bicycle path/jogging trail, complete with a fitness course, meander through the park. Lettuce Lake is also a haven to study nature. An interpretive center, featuring exhibits, leads to a 3,500-foot boardwalk and an observation tower where visitors can view an extensive variety of wildlife. Canoes and kayaks are available for rent to visitors to experience a wholenew side of the Park.

This park is amazing! Just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Tampa lies this secluded oasis where aligators lurk and birds chirp in the branches of ancient trees. The river is beautiful and the park offers canoes to rent to explore more of the area. The boardwalk here is extensive and the observation tower excellent. It is well worth... More

Lettuce Lake seems primordial to me and I can imagine a dinosaur walking out of the background foliage at any time. It is peaceful, primitive, and relaxing. I was first introduced to this unique place during the Hidden River Classic 10K Race. We have returned many times since then. Sometimes I gaze into the water and the reflection of the... More

The day we visited was warm and sunny and we saw a variety of wildlife including snakes, waterbirds and several unusual species of warblers etc. A must do if you are in the area but do take your time and look hard for the animals - it's not disney they don't come out and pose but I must say that... Cypress swamp and live oaks were amazing to look at. Just a top-notch public park! Informative Wildlife Ranger gave us a map and told us about a 100+ year old cypress...that was something!

A real surprise as we set out on a short 'board walk' to discover how extensive it is! Close up view of a blue Heron stalking among the swamps led on to many turtles, insects, snails, osprey and alligators. The Board Walk is a spectacular path through the swamp with a large look out over the lake. There were many... More

I haven’t figured out how big this park is because there seems to be more trails than what’s marked. Of course there’s the paved trails and boardwalks, but some dirt trails shoot off from those and really put you among the trees. The best boardwalk (near the education center) borders the Hillsborough River where it becomes very easy to see... More

My husband and I decided to make a date day out of Lettuce Lake Park. It was great to spend the day on the boardwalk looking at all the critters that live in the swampy areas of Tampa. We saw quite a few alligators and turtles and lots of happy families with kids and lots of couples also enjoying the... More

This place is amazing! As soon as you pull off the road into the park you know you are in a special place. The beauty of the trees and vegetation is breath taking. Then you find your way to the board walk, a walking trail, through the most beautiful lake and wet lands filled with lush vegetation and wild life.... More

I've walked the path several times. The park is located directly across, off Fletcher, from several Marriott properties. These hotels give special rates to Moffitt Cancer Center patients. It feels like a tropical escape from Cancer realities for patients and caregivers to stroll along the raised Boardwalk throughout the park. We saw a gorgeous spoonbill take flight with it's white... Beautiful park. Lots of exploring around a winding boardwalk. Saw many birds, wildlife and an Alligator. My girls and I loved it. For 2 bucks it's the best deal in Tampa.
