Description: The Straz Center began as a dream by visionary citizens of Tampa who...
The Straz Center began as a dream by visionary citizens of Tampa who persevered to bring to reality one of the finest performing arts centers in the nation. It is many things to many people and it’s more than just a building, more than just a performing arts center. It is a presenter, a producer, an educator, a community partner and an economic engine for the Tampa Bay area. It is a cornerstone of the Tampa Bay community. The Straz Center creates a regional economic impact of more than $100 million each year. To our local economy it can mean more tourists staying in hotels, eating in restaurants, shopping in stores and visiting other venues when they are here. At both the local and national level, it provides access to more than 700,000 people of all ages, abilities and cultures each year. It also provides jobs for artists and other professionals who have a passion for the arts and for our mission.

We attended a matinee of Madama Butterfly and enjoyed the show tremendously. It's important to support the local arts community and luckily the variety of programs here makes it easy.

We saw First Date at the JAEB Theatre . A nice setting for this particular show . The only reason we wouldn't rate the evening as perfect is because of the sound - it was difficult to hear the actors . Also , we could not get a taxi following the show . This is a service most theatres provide... More

When we purchased our tickets at the box office; We inquired about dinner. There are a number of different options. We selected the most formal available that evening. We had a delicious dinner followed by attending a great concert "The Hit Men". We would recommend checking out whatever is available when you are in town as there are many different... More

Drove up from Venice, FL, had dinner, and showed up for the 8 pm show. Unfortunately, I had mistakenly booked the 1 pm show! The staff was very helpful and worked us in, with comparable seats, we very much enjoyed the performance. The venue is easy to get to, convenient to parking and beautiful on the inside. The non-profit Straz... More

We are spoiled, typically we go to NYC to see our broadway shows. But this time we decided to stay local and saw Book of Mormon at the Straz center. Show was great. Staff was great. And the theater is lovely.

Had THE best time at The Straz last weekend! Finally got a chance to see "The Book of Mormon" and had a truly fabulous time. It was an easy 35 minute drive from Clearwater Beach and the valet parking (a bit high at $17) was absolutely worth it to us. After smiling/laughing non-stop for 3 hrs. we merely had to... More

We had some trouble with the seats we had purchased. When we approached the house manager, she immediately picked up the phone to find us more suitable seats. They were perfect and her service was perfect, too. The venue is well laid out. All seating provides a good view on to the stage. We watched "50 Shades the musical parody".... More

We were in the balcony for The Book of Mormon. Really good view from up there. Some of the words from the actors were difficult to understand. The place definitely needs more restrooms. Had to go to the lowest floor during intermission and that isn't a lot of time. Couldn't even find a water fountain. Parked at the Poe Garage... More
