My lifetime friend and I recently visited Tampa for our 12th annual bucket list fishing trip . We fished for two days with Captain Stewart and he worked harder than any guide we have used over the past twelve years. His equipment was high quality and his boat was like perfect. I caught snook , 8 lb redfish, and a... More

My husband and I recently moved to Florida and have done some pier fishing, but we weren't having much luck. For our anniversary, I surprised my husband by booking this charter trip. We could not have had a better time. Captain Stewart was excellent at finding good spots to fish, and seemed as excited as we were when we caught... More

I went through dozens of reviews to find a fishing charter for our family trip to Tampa Bay and narrowed it down to 2 of them. I contacted both of them and Capitan Stewart Ames was the first to get back to me and was quickest to respond to my emails, which is a big deal to me. Storms developed... More

Capt. Ames provided us with a phenomenal experience. He is a serious down to business guy, who is also an excellent communicator and conveys great enthusiasm about fishing. Admirably skilled and self-disciplined, he's an all around impressive guy. On arrival at Merino's Marina, we found the boat to be top notch, very clean and perfectly organized with excellent tackle and... More

My husband and I have been married for 31 years and in all that time, we were never able to afford to go on a "real" vacation. Last month was the first time we have ever been able to take a week long trip and the #1 thing we looked most forward to, was to go out for a day... More

My son and I joined Captain Stewart at 8:00 AM and found he was totally prepared. The boat was spotless, the rods were rigged and he had gone out at 6:00 AM to catch bait. By 8:15 we were catching fish and ended up with close to 25 trout by 11:30. For a change of pace we chased red fish... More

After taking another charter trip with Capt. Stewart Ames with my son and our friend, we were rewarded with great memories, super photos, and 30 plus redfish and trout!! It does not get any better than that!! As a Pinellas County citizen, fortunate enough to live on the water, who tries hard to catch fish on my own, nothing compares... More

Booking last minute family trip to Tampa. Hoping to fish. Captain Ames already booked solid (fyi plan ahead to get in with #1 Charter) but asked where we were staying, who would be fishing, etc and then made a thoughtful recommendation for another outfit! So although i cant comment on an actual fishing trip I can say What A Nice... More

Being the first time for fishing salt water we checked several sources for a charter captain. After being highly recommended we booked Capt. Stewart Ames, Gone Fishing Charters - Tampa, FL. We certainly made the right choice. Capt. Ames has the right equipment, boat, motor, tackle, live bait and most importantly the expertise for good fishing. He quickly found the... More

My wife and I are from upstate NY and when we come to Florida we always look forward to a fishing trip. Capt Ames is a top notch angler and a class act person - a joy to spend time with on... More
