I have been to Ybor City previously on my own a couple of times without a tour. I learned so much more about the rich history and multi culture of the area after taking a recent walking tour with Lonnie Herman as guide. We were a group 18 seniors in two vans and had made a prior reservation. After instructing... More

Today along with 48 other Tampa International Volunteers we had an exciting and informative tour of Ybor's past history. Our guide Terry, was knowledgable, polite, friendly and made the tour very interesting. I recommend it to anyone loving local history whether as a adult or taking children age 10 and up. Never knew about the Romania connection or the Park... More

I just completed a two hour walking tour of historic Ybor City and it was fabulous. Even though I have read some about the history of Ybor, I learned much more from a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide who obviously enjoys his work. I would recommend a visit to Ybor City tone and all!

Fantastic historic tour of Ybor! Lonnie was a never-ending fountain of knowledge and presented the information in an upbeat and passionate manner - no bore tour here. The locations we visited and the stories Lonnie provided made the time pass too quickly and the afternoon end too soon. We have been on tours all over the world and rank Lonnie... More

This was our first visit to historic Ybor City. We made our reservations online, but no payment was required until the completion of the tour. Our tour guide, Lonnie, was terrific. He really made the history of Ybor City come alive by weaving it into a story about Vicente Martinez Ybor, the founder of the city. The tour lasted about... More

It was great to hear the history of Ybor City. We stopped at some Casitas, the original Ybor Cigar Factory, Don Vicinte Hotel, Pedrosa House (only Cuban owned territory in U.S.), Ybor Square, and the Welcome Center. Lonnie, the tour guide, provided a very interesting narration throughout the tour and was able to answer all the questions our group asked.... More

Lonnie is great. There's so much to learn about Ybor City and how it shaped the history of Tampa. It's not a strenuous walk either.

I have lived in Tampa for 3 years and have been to Ybor a dozen times but my eyes were open on Lonnie's tour. Lonnie did a great job of bringing history to life. There is a lot more to Ybor than the bar/restaurant scene. Do yourself a favor and take Lonnie's tour.

If you are visiting Ybor City you must take the Historic Walking Tour with Lonnie. He makes the history of the area come alive. If you just walk around the area on your own without having read it's history you have no concept of the historical aspect of the area or who had occupied the buildings. He also directed us... More
