After reading some of the negative comments about BCR I was slightly apprehensive about what to expect. Thankfully I am left disagreeing with most of these comments. BCR is a small privately run sanctuary, with a couple of goals. 1/ offer wild cats a permanent home after private keepers have failed or passed away. 2/ raise awareness of the poor... More

I highly recommend taking a feeding tour in conjunction with the regular tour. It was exciting seeing the cats come get their bunnies and crunch away. The staff here is EXTREMELY friendly and knowledgable. The cats' cages are EXTREMELY close to the walking path and you are so much closer than any zoo you go to. Bring a camera!

Big Cat Rescue was on our list of things to do in Tampa. We're glad we went. The facility was fascinating and felt very tucked away in nature despite being so close to a highway and civilization. You won't see all the cats, need to say this up front. If you have ever owned a cat, you know they are... More

We visited Big Cat Rescue on a family vacation. My husband and I love animals so went for an educational experience. The guide was friendly but did not seem very well trained and often didn't know answers to basic questions. I know they were rescues but they weren't very healthy looking cats. One cat extremely skinny and they claimed he was... More

When you hear the cat's stories, it breaks your heart. They are very content and healthy and loved now. I went in July, would have been better on a cooler day.

I cannot support this rescue. They first off aren't even a rescue as Mrs Baskin lost her "Sanctuary" status last year. So it's simply a personal collection of big cats. They, along with some other rescues, HSUS, and PETA to name a few are backing a petition to ban hybrids in California. There are many things wrong with this. They... More

I was exci ted to go after seeing the owner on one of animal planet's shows. I was quickly disappointed to find she was a lying hypocritical person. She is using the cat's for her own gain and steadily talking us out of more money. By lying about the circumstances of some of her cat's. I was very disappointed in... More

Great place to see with magnificient animals. Guides are good and do give great explanations. The only problem we had was the fact that the guides in the back kept pushing us to go faster and faster and to give a lot of space to the carts where at least one person was sleeping :( That part wasn't fun at... My husband works at Disneyland in California, so my husband, son and I were seeing Disneyland in Florida, (which is beyond cool!) We were told about this place, and all the exotic cats they had. I was very excited because I love big cats! I strong armed my husband into going, and we were excited to find when we arrived,... More

I thought the Big Cat Rescue would be like a zoo, and was pleasantly surprised to find that there is a lot more to it. The guide was great, and told us all kinds of interesting facts about the different cats and also some personalized information about where each cat had come from. So many of them had been purchased... More
