Do you see yourself looking over the vast Serengeti plains, searching the horizon for a glimpse of a pride of Lions, or a Leopard lounging in the trees? Do you imagine yourself in India, riding an elephant through the high grass with your eyes peeled for the elusive Tiger? Have you ever thought how great it would be to hike through the rainforest, listening to the tropical birds, ever on the lookout for a Leopard or an Ocelot high in the canopy? Have you ever been to the zoo and wanted to be closer to the exotic cats; so close you could almost touch them? You don't have to spend tens of thousands of dollars to make these dreams come true. The world's largest accredited big cat rescue facility is right here in Tampa, Florida at Big Cat Rescue.

I was super excited about going to BCR. Someone recommended it to me and I just fell in love. I want to go EVERY time we got to Tampa now. I am a huge animal lover, especially big cats, and it was great to see them happy and healthy. Worth the time and cost! MUST SEE!

The cats at this sanctuary have been abused or mistreated for most of their lives. It was incredible to see them up close, but more importantly to hear their stories. Tigers, lions, cheetahs, jaguars, serials, caracals and even more cats are housed here. Almost all employees are volunteers. Hats off to their dedication and care for these animals. It really... I come here every time I am in the area. Did the 2 hour Keeper tour. Excellent behind the scenes tour. You make enrichment toys for the cats, and watch as they are given to them. Great way to get up close to the cats, for extended time and in a small group (ours only had 11 people)

I had wanted to visit here for many years. The day tour is only through a small section of the sanctuary but is very informative and interesting. You are given an audio player with ear buds so that you can listen to each cat's backgrounf and how they came to live at the rescue. I definitely appreciate the "hands off"... More

Loved our tour and being up close to so many different big cats. Our intern tour guide was from Scotland and she was warm, funny and informative. We enjoyed hearing the stories of each of the rescued animals. It was a warm day, but there was plenty of shade. Wear comfortable, sturdy shoes.

Hello I'm Alison and I visited Big Cat rescue with my 2 sisters, mom and dad. We really enjoyed the experience as it made us want to make change in the world to help just like you are. The tour let us see some amazing cats but we also learned some horrifying facts about how cats are treated. I also... More

The tour is interesting but definitely overpriced. You will see a lot of "small" big cats. There was no cheetah, and we didn't see a lion because one lion was going though medical procedure, and the other one "didn't like people".

Tour had a good and consistent theme (and a well-intentioned one at that), and there were many cats to see. The tour guide was sufficiently knowledgeable, and tour was well organized. This is not a zoo tour, but consists of visiting a variety (dozens...) of a variety of big cats, and hearing about each of their stories. The format is... More
