Do you see yourself looking over the vast Serengeti plains, searching the horizon for a glimpse of a pride of Lions, or a Leopard lounging in the trees? Do you imagine yourself in India, riding an elephant through the high grass with your eyes peeled for the elusive Tiger? Have you ever thought how great it would be to hike through the rainforest, listening to the tropical birds, ever on the lookout for a Leopard or an Ocelot high in the canopy? Have you ever been to the zoo and wanted to be closer to the exotic cats; so close you could almost touch them? You don't have to spend tens of thousands of dollars to make these dreams come true. The world's largest accredited big cat rescue facility is right here in Tampa, Florida at Big Cat Rescue.

Their goal is to be 'out of business'....a great vision. In the meantime, they do a terrific job of caring for abused/unwanted big cats. Until man stops abusing/exploiting these animals, I'm glad Big Cat Rescue is in business. Cats are beautiful, volunteers passionate about the work.

These people are angels for taking in sick, abused, unwanted pets and or former zoo cats. They take them in, care for them and nurse them back to health. This is now their forever home. When you visit the rescue, a guide will take you through, and tell you the story of each cat and how they came to be... More

We drove in from Redington Beach and it was well worth the drive. Well organized, and tour groups are small. A golf cart is available for those with mobility issues. You get to see the cats up close. Our tour guide was informative and engaging - he was funny and told us the story behind the sanctuary and the cats... More

Take the family to see these animals and learn all about big cats. It is an amazing experience if you are a "cat person"

This place does fantastic work saving big cats. It is not cheap, but it costs alot to feed and take care of the cats.

Wonderful tour--all likes! Guide was excellent, and the cats (big cats-tigers and lions) were beautiful.

1. Expectations. As a nature/animal lover, I always enjoy visiting natural history museums, zoos, aquariums, etc. I have had the privilege of visiting several similar facilities in Florida; my expectations were very high and I was not disappointed. 2. Recommendations. I would recommend doing some research on the types of animals that are at the facility (see paragraph 11) to... More

We had planned our trip to Tampa with the firm intention of going to Big Cat Rescue and we were not disappointed. Just pullling in to the parking lot, we received a friendly smile and wave from someone working there whom we obviously did not know. We were barely a few minutes late arriving at the scheduled tour time and... More

The cats were great and the atmosphere really good, but I do think the guide was a bit uptight. Lots of info though, and it was a great visit overall - highly recommended for kids.

My husband and I just did the regular tour. You have two tour guides, but are given a headset. As you walk around, the stories of all the animals are playing through your headset. If you have questions, you can ask either of the tour guides and they will be happy to answer. It was very interesting to see all... More
