Visited Ybor Feb 22 and 23. Like night and day between a Sunday and Monday. Sunday was full of bikers, hippies, freaks and tourists. Lots of cigar smoke mixed with the smell of just about any kind of food you can think of. Monday was full of tourists and older people with very few business open. We went to a... More

Good insight on the historic tobacco industry. The self guided walking tour is worth the time. I recommend visiting the local shops, watching men and women hand roll cigars. The main area runs along 7th street but make sure you journey by car to the Cuban bakery 15 & 22. Take a number as soon as you get there. Well... More

Ybor City has gotten a bad reputation as a mecca for drinking, and that's sad. There is so much more. Lots of good restaurants in the area, including one of our favorites Cristinos Pizza. Architecture is very interesting. My biggest complaint is that you normally have to pay to park. I don't like having to pay to give someone else... More

Seemed to be mainly bars and restaurants but the architecture was great - gives you a real feel for its past. There is a museum there which we didn't visit so there may be an interesting history to learn about. Glad to see the area is being preserved and worth a short visit.

Interesting diversion in Tampa. The 7th St strip is a collection of cigar shops, bars, tattooed people, motorcycles roaring through interrupting conversation at any give time. There are some beautiful buildings to look at outside and in. If you can find time away from the street party, drop into the State Park Museum on the history of Ybor City.

We stopped here first for a map and information. A very pleasant woman showed us a film about the history of Ybor City, which was very informative. There were some interesting souvenirs for sale, and I bought a small glass wine bottle ornament. The center also had rest rooms. I thought there would be more shops in Ybor City, but... More

On a recent visit our family took the trolley into Ybor City. We have visited in the past and it felt like it had slipped a notch. Or several. In the words of both my daugters, "extremely sketch." Overall it felt dirty, grungy, neglected. Lots of retail spaces and restaurants were closed or seemed to be clinging to life. Lots... More

The history of the area is very well presented in a short film in the Visitor Centre (Canadian spelling). Staff was very pleasant and welcoming. The main street is very attractive, with many shops and restaurants. Very enjoyable place to take a stroll, and stop along the way as you wish.

What were you thinking?? Wouldn't go there at night. Now I hear that a young lady has disappeared from Ybor and they don't know where she is. That and the bar fights and muggings and the bad parking make me want to warn relatives and tourists to stay away. Why they allowed so many bars in Ybor is a is... More

At first we were thinking Ybor City was going to be geared towards tourists, which we try to avoid. We were pleasantly surprised with the historic buildings and the visitor center. The coffee roaster was closed on Mondays, so we didn't get to buy any of the signature coffee used in the famous Cuban Coffees sold throughout the district. This... More
