In general Ybor City is a fun place. Restaurants, clubs, bars, cigar shops. An exceptional place to people watch on weekends and evenings. Weekdays are quiet. But on St. Patrick's Day the street lights up. An hour and a half parade with colorful floats, necklaces of beads thrown at abundance. A joyous event. Go for dinner and stay for the... More

Not a negative review of the place in general, but we went not really knowing what to expect other than a bit of Cuban culture. Lots of cigar shops, bars, etc. Would've been great for just the hubs and me, but not really ideal with small kids (7 and under). We did have a great time walking around, seeing the... More

If you go in the day it might look as if it's deserted but it's just a symptom of the tragic car dependence of so many US towns. It's worth walking around though, especially in the evening when people do come out to sit on sidewalk tables and beer gardens. The market on Saturday in Centennial Park is small but... More

This old area of Tampa has been revitalized and is full of shops, restaurants, clubs and bars. It was the cigar making area in the old days and still has some cigar shops where you can get your own hand rolled. Maybe not quite as great as I had read about, but we still made a full day of it.... More

Oh my goodness. There is just so much to do here. There are shops that sell unique things. There are resteraunts on every corner it seems. A movie theater, bars, just about anything you could possibly want to do in an afternoon. I loved, loved loved this place.

Ybor City, the old cigar making center of Tampa, is promoted as a tourist attraction with comparisons to the French Quarter in New Orleans. If you go there with that expectation, you will be in for a big disappointment. The area has potential and a few restaurants, but on a late Thursday afternoon, the streets were dead and there were... My husband and I spent the day in Ybor city Thursday, April 4, 2014. We went to the museum (terribly interesting), went on the tour of a workers home (awesome----loved it). And my husband bought 2 cigars from the gift shop (which were rolled by a grandmaster!) The cultural diversity is awesome! There is every kind of nightclub to enjoy.... More

This isn't really a tourist area, but it's a lot of fun. Not a place for kids after dark, it's a bit rough. I don't mind rough and got a decent meal and hand rolled cigars. Tattoo shops every 100 feet, which is fine with me, but again, not a place to take the kids after a day at the... More

Some have said;” it's like a little New Orleans” in Florida. It has an “old world” feeling but need some renovation, little spruce up. If you're looking for night clubs, a tattoo or bar (nothing fancy) this is a place to go. You can do Ybor City in under an hour. Probably Ybor City glows at night, but I don’t... More
