Unlike most state capitols which have domed shapes ,Florida's state Capitol is a 22 story skyscraper. It does have a observation deck which gives a great view of Tallahassee. The house and senate chambers are on the 5th floor and the Governors office is on the first. There is also a portrait gallery of the Governors in the hallway which leads... More

I left the new Capitol building rather thinking that Florida wants to portray itself as an unfriendly state. Unlike every other state capitol I have visited, there was no friendly welcome and no hint about how to tour the building. When we did make it to the 5th floor for the senate and representatives hall, all but one gallery door... More

The New Capitol building isn't much to look at from the outside (very obviously built in the 70's), but there is a fair amount to do in the building. The whole 22nd floor is an observation deck which gives you a great view of the entire city! On the first floor there is a chapel which kinda feels like a... More

My wife and I traveled from south Florida to explore Tallahassee and see the state capitol. The view from the top floor is amazing, if you get a chance there are tours of the old capitol which is the smaller building located in front! Filled with great Florida history and artifacts.

Te new capitol is nice to see and the best part is the 22nd floor. You can see Tallahassee in all directions and often has art work on the walls. The historic capitol or old capitol is completely restored and has docents to tell you as much or as little you want to know. There is an interesting story about... More

So much to see. Most enjoyable was the 22nd floor and the vista it provided. The chapel was amazing. Good to be able to see the Senate and House meeting rooms.

It is such a beautiful building and it is really neat to be able to see where the Governor's Office is located and where the Senate and House of Representatives meet. Too bad they weren't in session but it was still exciting to see. Definitely visit the 22nd floor which is the very top of the Capitol building. Up on... More

I honestly spent little time in the new capital. I basically went through security (just like an airport) and took the elevators to the top. (You take one elevator almost to the top, get out on that floor, switch elevators and then can reach the observatory.) During the week when I was there it was empty so I had the... More

Was very disappointed to see the "new" capital. While the history is interesting, this could be any high-rise office building anywhere.
