the only thing this building has going for it, is it's view. go to the observation deck and you can see 360 around the city. if you look to the SE (not sure if anyone even knows this), you will see the "hills" suddenly drop off into an extremly flat area to the horizon, that is the ancient coast line.... I was fun to see where our laws are being made. The 22nd floor had a beautiful view and a great art collection. I hate that every time I go they are never in session.

We spent an hour or so walking around the Capitol building. The top floor is an observation deck with windows all around. You can see all of Tallahassee and I have to say I was surprised by how awesome the view was. On the lower floors, you can see the Senate and House chambers from an observation level. We visited... Whenever friends or family visited in Tallahassee we would trek up to the 22nd floor of the New Capitol and I could give them a tour of the city from above. There are usually beautiful art installations by local artists on the walls and prints available in the shop downstairs. Information on various buildings is listed, and visitors can also... More

Modern building or Legislature to meet. Art gallery on top floor. Wonderful view of Tallahassee from top. New Capitol is centered right behind old Capitol which makes for a neat photo shot. Old Capitol is mostly a museum, a beautiful historical building & grounds, makes a unique view.

Fun vintage capitol. Hard to believe it's called the "new" capitol - it's quite "That 70's Show" - but fun. Wonder what was up with legislators, governor, and staff when they allowed this design to be built in the early 70's. Very iconic. We now need a newer capitol bldg - something outrageous. Very phallic. Love the dolphin sculptures out... More

To really appreciate what happens in the Capitol, try to visit when the Florida legislature is in session. The galleries above the House and Senate chambers offer a vantage point to our government in action. And make sure you go to the 22nd floor for the panoramic views of Tallahassee.

Tallahassee is the home of one of the tallest state capitol buildings in the US. There is an observation deck that gives you a full panoramic view of the entire area from 22 floors up and the building sits on one of the tallest hills in the county. You can see the campus of Florida State University and Florida A... More

My husband and I enjoyed the building. The outside well kept, nice history, and great pictures to be taken. We will be back next time we are in Tallahassee.

October 7: After going through security we took the elevator to the 22nd floor to check out the panoramic views of Tallahassee, which are amazing. Posted diagrams identify the major buildings you're seeing in each direction. After some picture-taking activity, we took the very fast elevator down to the 5th floor and visited the House and Senate galleries, which were... More
