Nice trails for walking, although not an extensive system of such. Lake for swimming, high school rowing.

One of the best parks in the area. Be sure to take the brick path to the old Maclay House as few people do it. Going during bloom season for the azaleas will take your breath away.

The water seems to have overtaken any beach or sitting area which makes it awkward for watching the kids swim. Otherwise the gardens are very nice. Wish the Park would add benches closer to the water.

As the website indicates, the high blooming season is mid to late March. We visited March 28, 2015 and the flowers were gorgeous. The gardens area includes many different styles of gardens to walk through (with an admission charge of $6/person), including a perfect English garden. There is also a reflecting pool reminiscent of Monet's Giverney. During Jan-April, the Maclay... More

There are 28 acres of ornamental gardens that are the key appeal to visiting the park. The private home of the Maclays is only open 'in season' meaning Jan-April which is when they would have been in residence. Emphasizing indigenous plants was this horticulturalist's plan but there is an array of Oriental magnolias, azaleas, camelias and other plants in season.... More

As a Northerner, I especially appreciated seeing all the flowers in bloom as we walked around the gardens.

We came right after bloom about a week later but it was still beautiful. I actually liked seeing the ground littered with petals. The docent of the house was very nice and knowledgeable. Aside from the beauty is a very charming story of the Maclay family that donated the property. There are also trails to discover outside of the gardens just... More

Nice view of a lake, small fountains, and some flowers. And you have to pay. Instead go walk for free around the park across meridian from this one, it's called Klapp Phipps. Go to Phipps gate C it's huge. Great huge fields, big natural pond, and lake Jackson. Otherwise if your set on Maclay, go back farther there's a cool... More

Unfortunately we were a little late (March 2) for most of the blossoms, but it was still a lovely walk inthe gardens. The owners house was interesting...all original. There was also a small museum in the house. The pathways are paved in red brick, and probably 5 feet wide. There are also unpaved paths. The day we were there there... More
